Problems.... Boo.
Hello e90post nation,
I just wanted to run my encounters as of lately with my 2009 e92 335xi. Car has less than 8000 km ( around 5000 miles ) and I think its going nuts. I brought it in to the dealership one morning because it made a wierd grinding noise everytime I turned the car off. The service dept. asked me if I had ever bottomed out, and I laughed thinking that would be a little hard with the truck suspension the car comes stock with! Its pretty high off the ground, with plenty of clearance, and I do not recollect hitting anything or scraping anything. They give me an appointment for some time mid-april, telling me that it doesnt seem to be a serious problem, and tire changing season is amongst us. I am a little mad, but what can you do... As I am about to leave the service bay, car starts ticking HARD, stops , and re-ticks for like 5 seconds. Noise comes from somewhere in between the engine and the transmission... from what I can tell. My AWD light is on, cluster illuminates with 4x4, and Im assuming DTC button dont work no mo' cause nothing happens when I press it! Brought the car in for service, they will inspect and let me know ... for the time being, they told me i could have my car back in 1 day, or in 3 weeks. Does anyone know what this could be ? Has anyone experienced wierd clicks or ticks coming from underneath the car ? Man, the car is brand new.. I love it. Would hate to not have it .. plus, if the car is in the shop for a month, im gonna be wasting a car payment HELP! |

Thanks for that. Unfortuneately, I am more concerned with the wierd noises. I was told it could be just an electrical error and something may just be rubbing on something else...

i dunno, but with my s4 - there was a grinding sound when i drove sometimes... but that was due to the mechanics of the awd...

I know it's a bit far but Hamel BMW up in Blainville will probably take you in the next day. And no I don't work there or purchased mine there, but I did go there to fix a window issue since I didn't want to wait 2 weeks.

Ticks and clicks are normal.....my 09 does it as well.
Though yours might not be the same, it's kind of hard to tell you when I can't hear the "ticking" your car is making. Mine seems to be coming from the engine bay/ drivers wheel-well. It goes away when I accelerate and clicks when I'm idling, or after the first start of the morning. Usually goes away once the cars warmed up. Could be valves as well....as I said it's hard to tell. Could be a lot of things. |

It sounds like your dealer sucks ass....how can an 'electrical error' cause grinding noises? And I can't believe they initially wanted you to wait 6 months for an appointment!
If they are going to keep the car for a month, demand a loaner. Better yet, bring it to a different dealer. |

But I agree, sounds like your dealer is less than competent. Try another.
