Insurance ??s

Ok so im only 22 and i bought a 2007 335i.

My insurance right now is
230/month or 2760/year for full coverage and 1000 dollar deductable.

I only have 1 ticket.

Does this sound right and if not how do i go about getting it cheaper. Its titled under my name so i guess i have no way of putting my dad on as the primary driver.

Theres a lot more that falls into the insurance premium than your age and your car..
1. Who is your insurance through?
2. How long have you been driving?
3. What is the 1 ticket for?

+1
also
4. where you live
5. driving pattern, e.g. distance to work
6. lving arrangement

and many other factors. Why do you think everytime you get insurance you have to sit through endless number of questions just to get a quote?

Try Ameriprise by Costco, pretty cheap. I used to have Mercury. Say the car is for pleasure, miles put like 3k annually, and you might wanna consider lowering the coverage to lower the over cost. Good luck

yeah, tell the insurance man "please lower my insurance cost"

If you don't like the cost, shop around, there's nothing else you can do.

I pay less than you a month for 2 cars, lower deductible and very high coverages 350/700/500/1M.

It also depends on the coverage. Like injury protection? How much are you covering on your car? The other person's car? THe other person's injuries? If they don't have insurance at all?

Case in point, I was driving my 528i. Had full coverage, BUT only covered 25 for my car and 50,000 for my injuries. Had I maxed out at 100,000 for my injuries, I would've gotten a 100,000 payout instead of 50,000. You're young, you're driving a sports car, I would expect and even want to pay max on everything just to have peace of mind. Now, if you're filthy rich, then what are you complaining about? lol

This phrase is a misnomer. Trust me. I've seen people lose their homes over car accidents.

You would have only gotten 100K for your settlement if your settlement was worth that much, i.e., if your medicals and lost wages were at least 100K combined, and that's what the at-fault driver's insurance thought they were worth.

Your liability coverage doesn't pay for your medicals. The other driver's liability insurance does. Your UIM coverage supplements that. You must have had low or no UIM coverage. I have 1M and there's a reason for that.

for a 22 year old not living under your parent's roof, that sounds about right, depending on what city you live in. it's always worth shopping around though. But some cars just command high insurance rates if you are a single male, like my old integra did.

its actually cheaper for me to insure a 2006 e90 here, than it is a 1995 integra gsr with 250k miles on it.

It was. I'm a systems engineer. My hand broke in three places. Just got married. Had a good lawyer. Said I would've gotten the full 100K. That's why I got the limit at 50K. Hand injuries are the worst especially if you use them for your job. The problem is, the other person didn't have a license or insurance. So, I had to "sue" my own insurance company which meant I could get the max on my own coverage.

Now, I got every insurance coverage under the sun maxed out because I live in an area with a lot of immigrants who either don't know how to drive, or are uninsured.

LOL. I understand how it works. I'm a Personal Injury attorney.

I'm willing to bet since then you increased your UIM coverage. Like I said before, that's why I carry around 1M coverage here. Our neighbors to the South like to ride dirty here in Texas.

Darn right I increased it. It's ridiculous around here (D.C. Metro). I mean people just breaking all kinds of traffic laws. Impatience, ignorance, and no insurance!

well i guess from what you guys are saying its not that bad.
I just hate paying for something i dont use haha. And if you do use it you end up paying for it anyway through higher premiums due to using it. Why couldn't i be the one who came up with the idea of insurance??

Bundle your insurance services together. That will usually provide a small discount.

My coverage is also 350/700/500/1M with a $500 ded.

32 year old male
2 speeding tickets back to back early 2007
1 at fault accident ... total payout $18450.00
1 not at fault accident

1 year policy with Travelers Insurance costs me $1822.

The type of car is ultimately the reason for higher premiums for the vast majority of us.

OP, i feel your pain. Im 24, this is my 3rd BMW i lease a 2008 335i, have one ticket for doin 92 in a 75 (did traffic skool) but with USAA i only owe like 1700/yr w 1000 deductible. I live alone but do bundle other insurance with them - that helps.

I know you prolly cant get USAA otherwise ud have it already but i would def shop around. Everyones right, there are an incredible # of factors that price in your principle but i think you could find lower then 2700/yr.

PS - DO NOT go with Mercury they are terrible. I wont go into details, but i know from personal experience - if you/someone has an accident and the case goes into arbitration (which it does much more often these days), they curl up into a ball and get owned.
