Newbie Question
Newbie here… I just bought a Titanium Silver 2009 328i w/ Navigation and Sport Package. I have a friend that works in a BMW Dealer as a Technician/Mechanic. He already helps me with his employee discount. I want to know what else do you think I can ask him to do for my car? Was there any program that he can add or modified to my car that only BMW technician/mechanic can do.
Thanks Erick |

Is it a 6MT? If so first get a discount on parts like a shift knob, short shift kit and get the CDV valve replaced or taken out. See if he can do a differential swap ("poor man's supercharger"). He could swap out suspension to coilovers and M3 bits.
Lots of BMW Performance goodies to be had too. +3 on that idea. |

Any features that he can add to my Navigation or activate my alarm by simple programming. How about new ecu program? I am not sure if he can get me some parts.

If your does not come with the alarm you can get him to install and program it so it is activated.
Doubt he will be able touch your ECU. Otherwise he will be voiding your warranty. He can probably install anything you buy elsewhere tho. Such as suspension bits and what not. |

seriously, this thread is epic fail.
First you asked an open-ended question, then some offered you really good suggestions on getting some parts e.g. BMW performance parts, then you come back and say "yeah, I'm not sure if he can give me any parts..." and no, he cannot 'activate' your alarm if you didn't order it, if you had ordered it, it would've been activated already. Maybe your buddy can activate my iDrive for me, I didn't order it, but hey who knows? Why don't you talk to your buddy and ASK HIM what he can or cannot get you, and work from there?
