Passport BMW - dealership badging?
My new 330i should be heading down to the dealership from the VPC in NY either late this week or sometime next week, and I need advice on what to tell my CA about not putting any little dealership ads on the car.
Basically, I don’t want a “Passport BMW” sticker or something on the back. Or anywhere on the car, really. I like the dealership but I hate those little dealership badges. What sort of stickers/badges does Passport put on their new cars? Is there anything I should look out for? For some reason, I remember someone (Donny?) having a sticker behind his rear view mirror? I wouldn’t mind a license plate frame that says Passport, but frankly, I would prefer a plain one. Is there anything I should tell my CA, other than, “I don’t want any dealership stickers on my car”?

Yes, sometimes they do put a sticker on the rear view mirror. If there are stickers on your car the CA can remove them easily. You will get a Passport license plate frame. I was lucky not to have any stickers; just the license plate frame.

That was me that got the sticker on the rear view mirrow. also a "Passport" sticker in the back and the license plate frame. I asked my CA not to put that stuff. when I picked up the car, he just played dumb. I'd say, remind your CA SEVERAL times and finally, the day of the pick up, call him again to double check.

passport has the stickers that they put on, so be very clear that you dont want their sticker...
BMW of Sterling has a badge they place on the car. I told me sales rep I didnt want it, and it was off an hour later. passport's stickers I would be more careful about though... they might scratch the paint taking it off... |

It is removed with a piece of dental floss and a blow dryer. It's a small plastic square. Nothing to scratch. Stop scaring this poor guy.

Thanks, guys! I'll make sure to tell my CA more than once. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

When I was taking delivery, I actually called them and they stopped JUST before they applied the Sterling shield on the back. We got two of the shields anyway though, I guess I can stick it somewhere.

definately tell them numerous times to skip the advertising, in fact email your CA before pick up so that you have proof in writing that you requested no dealer stickers etc. The plate frames are also a thing that always makes me sneer, why do people buy really nice cars then have tacky plate frames with dealership names on them, might as well put a bumper sticker on the car saying go to this dealership.

E-mail sent to my CA. I'll probably send another e-mail to him once he calls/e-mails me that the car is ready, and definitely I'll mention it when I speak to him on the phone.
I'll let you guys know how it goes. Only a week or so left!

Just an update -- Peter came through. No dealership stickers whatsoever. I am pleased!
The exterior of the car looks pristine... or it did when I picked it up, anyway. Now I'm OCD because I already had a couple of birds leave some nice droppings on it, and I've noticed some tree sap on it already. Worrying about the paint was not a problem I had with my Civic.

BK you need to get her zaino'd as soon as possible, it'll give her a good layer of protection against saps, droppings and gas overspills ... get in touch with Shimshimhada ASAP

I asked for NO dealer markings on the car. Passport couldn't help themselves and they put a sticker on the back of the RV mirror but I did manage to avoid the Passport frame.
Anyway - the sticker on the back of the mirror was a cinch to remove - just peel it off. You'll have to remind them a bunch of times because that's there standard practice. Aside from that - they are a great dealership. Well worth the slight inconvenience of peeling off a sticker. |
