S4 or 335i?

Ok, I've been driving 3 series Bimmers for over 10 years. My current lease is running out and I thought I'd check out the Audi. Got to say, fun car. Awesome engine. Sweet interior, incredibly well make 4 door sports sedan in all repects. Then I ask for some lease rates. I get a quote of $1000 month. (36 month, 12K year). WTF! Crazy number. Christ, I could have a 550i for that rate. My local BMW dealer is saying a 335i with the options I want is going to be $48,700. (Sport, Prem, Nav, CA, Cold). I haven't even talked to him about lease rates, but I know it's going to be less than $700. What's Audi smoken these days? Have any of you owned an S4? Curious about the car. I really did like it until I got that quote.

Thanks

S4's are great torque monster (obviously), but in this day and age with the way gas prices are and with that thing averaging ~19 mpg? add to that your lease payment of 1k/mo does not equate. Plus, it's a big heavy sedan, i've driven my fair share of 1st and 2nd gen A4's and you'd have to plunk a lot of money into that thing to make it fast.

But if you've never owned one, do a 2yr lease , it's a good thing you're leasing because in a little over a year, they're going to replace that w the 08 B8 A4/S4...that's just shitty IMO shafting your own customer base and killing their resale value.

the lease rates suck really bad. email me what you want and ill run a lease for you at the buy rate.

with the S4 the risidual is so-so, but the money factor is through the roof, then dealers mark it up hense a 1k payment.

like i said email me the MSRP of the car you want, miles a year, and drive off, and ill run a lease with no mark ups.

I driven an S4 and i personally have more fun in a 330i.

If it was my choice, i would go with the 335i and this is coming from an Audi owner.

On a BMW forum you will always get a bias opinion, but truthfully driven an S4 and it definitely lacks especially when compared to its competition, even raced two one conv and sedan in my 330 and managed to get away , as mentioned previously RS4 all the way, but an S4 the thought would not even cross my mind!!! BMW all the way even though my second car is a Merc

I'm not going to suggest that BMW's offer Honda-type reliability, but you may want poke around and read up on Audi's reliability record. It ain't pretty....

S4 = AWD only. If you need or want AWD for some reason, get the S4, because it will probably be a lot better in the twisties than a 335xi.

Otherwise, 335i ZSP all the way my friend.

That is complete crap, I have had an S4 and my family got another one as an extra car because they loved mine so much. You should pay 750 max i would say, i know we got good deals bc we have had 5 audis in the last 5 years or so but 1000 is complete crap

The S4 > 330, but i would say maybe 335 (coupe) >S4. I do not believe for a second though that a 330 sedan beat an S4 sedan, the person had to be asleep at the wheel because it is so much easier to launch with all wheel drive, and even the auto is 0-60 in 5.5 or 5.4

I like the S4, though i dont know if i would buy one over a comperable BMW if i had the money. What i will tell you is that a lot of my freinds audis are falling apart after a few years. For example the little screen between the rpm and MPH gauges looks like a messed up nintendo game (if you know what i mean), other things like the leather delaminating from the center arm rest, the arm rest not staying into one position, oh yea and it sounds like its going to blow up at idle and its like 4 years old! I dont know, i think build quiality is somthing i will consider more seriously from now on.

Yeah, a 330i killing an S4 doesn't seem right. I have driven both, and the S4 definitely has the edge in terms of straight-line speed. In the turns it MAY be different because the S4 weighs so much, but the 330i is no lightweight, either. Also $1000/mo. is a complete show. You should be able to get a lease for around $800-something per month.

I looked into the S4 as well. I currently drive the TT.

I was quoted 850 p/m with 3,500 down. I still think that is WAY too much for the vehicle.

As for getting a 335i for under 700 p/m, I seriously doubt that will happen until the MY2008 comes out.

My dealer has told me to expect a mid 700s lease rate for my 335i. I'm probably just going to buy the car.
