Dealer using remanufactured parts in warranty repair? Is this normal?
My dealer has identified a warranty repair for my 330i and suggests that I have my steering column replaced. (steering is 'notchy' at slow speeds) On the work order, it indicates that they have ordered a REMANUFACTURED hydro column (steering rack and column) - not a brand new one.
I asked about this (my car has only 9,000 miles on it) and the service advisor told me this was standard practice for BMW - that they always provide their dealers/customers with remanufacured parts on warranty repairs, not new ones. Can anyone else confirm or advise on this? It doesn't sound right to me. Thanks. |

Normal. ALL makes do it.
That said, as new as the E90 is, I can't imagine that a reman steering rack/column is common, maybe not even available at all.. you may well get a new one.
