Passenger sues Southwest over texting incident

oi~ not again....

arn't you suppose to turn off ALL electronic equipments as the aircraft door was closed???
so she shouldn't keep texting while the aircraft door closed and taxiing to the runway.....

Quote:
She had just boarded her flight when she says a male flight attendant approached her.

"I was texting my friend in Florida so he could let my kids know I was on the plane heading home," she said. "I didn't even have a chance to sit down in my seat before he was there, rudely telling me to turn off my phone and buckle up."
Quote:
The attendant returned twice as the plane was heading to the runway, threatening to have her thrown off the plane. Exasperated, she said, she told him to do what he wanted and that's when the plane turned around and went back to the gate.

She said she turned off the phone when asked the first time, but the flight attendant didn't believe her even when she said she tried to show him to prove it.

Basically he said she said...but the story doesn't make sense, something is definitely missing or someone is lying.

Are you defending her? I don't get it. This isn't a he-said she-said scenario. Why on earth would a flight attendant hold up an entire plane and turn it around because he randomly decides to pick on someone, by not believing their phone is off... ? Right. Sounds a lot more like an ignorant passenger. Don't think anything is missing here. This passenger obviously decided to not adhere to the rules and regulations.

This does seem really odd. I put my phone on vibrate for a flight and it has never effected anything. Either the flight attendant is completely crazy (seems like he would have been weeded out pretty quick dealing with thousands of people every day) or there is more to the story and this lady copped some serious attitude to get thrown off a plane.

Honestly thats an idiotic assumption to make without having more information.

Flight attendends just like everyone else can get stressed out, and I know when I am stressed out it takes a lot out of me when I have to deal with customers. Who knows the guy might have been stressed out and just simply did not want to deal with another customers BS or he may have been on a power trip or whatever.

I don't give a shit about this story but I don't see how you can make that assumption based on the information you were given. So we are back at a he said she said and we should just all move on with our day.

Well, last time *I* was on a plane, the flight atendants didn't control where the plane went, so to get it back to the gates the pilots must have agreed . . .

Glad to see that happened in my home town! Like the OP said, you're supposed to turn off all electronic devices before the plane leaves. My guess is that she threw a fit when the flight attendant told her to turn off her phone multiple times, and then she posed a threat to the safety of the other passengers on the plane, which means she gets kicked off. After 9/11, you don't mess around with crap like that.

rule of thumb: whatever any crew member commands a passenger to do (reasonably) is law once the doors are closed. fuck around, this is what happens. sorry, the bitch doesn't deserve a penny.
