Anyone have a auto dealer's license
I am looking for a sub $1000 car. So I figured an auction may be the place to go. I looked on cars.com and autotrader. I found a e30 318i w/ 142,000 and a 92 civic both w/ MT. I am also partial to a beater small SUV (Pathfinder, Explorer)
So any help you guys can give would be helpful.

I'm in the process of getting mine...might take awhile though, but i wanna be able to buy cars at auction...there are public auctions you can go to, it's located in D.C, but they're never nearly as good as private dealer auctions..too many bid, often times they pay more than the car is actually worth...without checking records

Have you checked out craiglist at all? You can normally find a beater on there...

i do.
Problem is, I can't techincally sell you a car directly without being inspected. ... though.. a 1000 car at auction is usually pretty bad... on top of the auction fees.. not worth it. Your best bet? search craigslist for someone who is just looking to get rid of something.. Last edited by Jimspeed; 05-18-2009 at 11:17 AM.. |

Raja...do you have a license yourself? what's the process involved? Or what is required, from what i've read on the stateboard form...it's overwhelming, was wondering if there are any corners u can cut

I will not have the license as it's almost impossible in VA to get license without having a lot. Too many hanchos jumped in the bandwagon and the Gov. made it impossible for people to get in. My partner lives in Maryland and he is getting his license in MD as it's a bit easier. My involvement will be getting the cars detailed, paint corrected and ventured to get it ready for SALE. We have a pretty good marketing plan and already have 2 people for whom we are ready to buy cars for.
So to answer the question, do i have a license? No and living in VA not worth the hassle if you ask me. |

Raja, that's what i figured...VA is strict on it, you have to have a LOT with certain amount of space and then u need to give them 25K in bond and some other shits..how is MD different?

My partner is sub-leasing a license, so the guy we are contracting with has a lot already.

For example, i do all the buying for my dealership and their are GM auctions in which, you can only buy as a GM new car franchise, if your just an used car lot, you are not allowed into the auction. Same goes with BMW lease returns, they give BMW dealers first stab, for obvious reasons. |

Oh man!!
This is great!!! I'm still a few months away from getting something... gotta refi first and save some $. But ultimately, i'm pretty sure I want an E92. Ideally a 335, but would do a 328 if the price is right. Must haves are 6spd, sport/prem and heated seats. Navi would be nice, but not a deal breaker
