Coupe IS Lexus looks like a woofer compared to the E92/93

I think it looks like a chicks car honestly. The IS range needs a complete redesign. I just hate the fact though that Lexus bring out really nice concepts like the LF-A and LF-Xh and their final product isnt up to scratch.

That said, I do like the current LS. Here's pics of what Lexus should and could be.

I like the IS sedan a lot. However they should've followed the path of BMW and Infiniti and use different chassis for the coupe.

After having done a google search to see wtf is going on here (link sux) I came up with this:

It looks like they used used the Nissan Altima and Hyundia Genesis coupes for inspiration (both coupes I like the looks of) and blended in a healthy dose of Corolla to come up with the new for 1996 Lexus IS Coupe.

^^ Looks like a sedan photochopped to look like a coupe? The front looks exactly the same as the sedan!!! Should've changed it up a little.. so people can actually buy this thing.

Here is a legitimate pic of the convertible + E92 for comparison:

Maybe the one I posted was just a PS job. Either way I just don't understand why not make a reasonably priced SC convertible or mini version of it. Lexus needs to face the ugly facts that all of us face everyday on the road. People like their soft comfy Lexuses, a lot. They like them going 60 in the left lane and they like them as a glorified Camry to pick up the kids. They like them in RX form and they like them in convertible form. I don't think they are going to like this one though. The IS is supposed to be a ES without the nuts snipped, a convertible is unneccessary and a new model to bring back the craze of the first SC 430, but for the price of this would have sold like hotcakes. All it would have took was some actual effort restyling the sheetmetal and throwing in the towel on the suspensions sporty ideations and giving the people what they actually want. (not me, or anyone I hang around with though, Lexus sucks)

That is the ugliest rear-end I have EVER seen. And the just lifted the convertible roof straight from the Lexus SC...

OMG FAIL!

I do think if lexus would just forget about their older-person segment of consumers and made cars that are radical looking like thier concepts, they might win me over.

They are just bland and come up a bit short of BMW in my book.

P.S. that vert is freaking hideous.

WOW, they failed hard.

Sad truth is their designs have been on the highway to abject failure for some time.

ACURA has been heading down that path too, with their bizarre grilles. they better pull the stick back and gain some altitude before they crash and burn like this.

I don't know a soul that would think that IS looks good.

Lexus's bread and butter are conservative, older-middle aged people who want a easier, safe, no-angst car experience. Quality, reliability, service - those are the core values and traits at Lexus. Sportiness? They want to seem to be sporty to certain buyers, but not in way that might compromise those core values. They'll always be performance also-rans because that's not their main focus.
