That's ridiculously fast. About the same as the Corvette C6 and way faster than an S4, for example. Can this be correct?

BMW have always been conservative with their numbers. i wouldnt be surprised to see some real world numers below the 5 sec. mark to the 60 with a manual.

I won't believe it until I see real 1/4mile numbers.

So I guess I have to ask: (a) How reliable is this Autozeitung? And: (b) Was the 335i they tested an actual production car, or a pre-production test mule? Last edited by Garissimo; 08-08-2006 at 10:57 PM.. |

But the reason I ask is that sometimes manufacturers tweak boost settings on test cars and the production version might not perform the same. I don't think BMW typically does this but you never know. |

On the autozeitung website, their article on the 335i has the following under the technik section. 0-100 Km/h in 5.5 on a manual. Not sure where these other numbers are coming from, they don't seem realistic.

The real world test #'s at the very top of this thread are just that. Data from an instrumented test of a real live 335i. |

For the numbers to be valid would mean that the 335i auto is running 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and thus the manual would be running 0-60 in 4.8 and that would make BMW off by a half a second on the times they are posting to the public. BMW has been conservative before but not that conservative. I would be more willing to believe 0-60 times like 5.2 for the manual and 5.5 for the auto since BMW is typically conservative by a tenth or two. |

I bought this edition as I read this thread. The 335i was compared to a CLK 350 and scored 3532 : 3491 of 5000 possible points. The CLK 350 was rated better in chapters auto body and driving comfort, but the 335i was very close. The 335i was better in chapters engine/transmission and driving dynamics, but the difference was greater. My conclusion: If you want a dynamic car, order the 335i. If you want comfort, go with a CLK 350. Sorry, I have no scanner.
