i don't think it's possible. i've been trying and looking through every idrive menu option with no luck. kinda strange because i think the owners manual shows a screen shot of the idrive menu where u can turn off/on the alerts. Maybe it's just the US cars that disable this option?

if one wishes... the ground wire under the seat can be removed.
i did this to another chiming car of mine. i haven't had time to remove the seat in the 330 yet. being in real estate... with open houses and all... its a pain to remove my seat belt (on/off) every corner or so setting up signs, etc.. but 95% of the time my belt is worn.

No offence but I think is stupid to try to turn off the seatbelt alert. just put the fucking seatbelt on, the only thing that bmw is trying to do is salve your ass.
do you also want to know how to disable your airbags, maybe is in the idrive menu too I think if you want to get your self kill just jump out of a building, is easy and is free |

Wasn't it the US who refused compulsory belt laws on 'freedom' grounds until recently. As I recall, air bags were first invented to protect 'free' american people NOT wearing belts. I know I should wear the belt, but if I choose not too for a reason, i.e. driving on private land at low speed (at work at a power plant, or on a camping site / beach) then I don't want this damn chime. You should be able to cancel it, but only for each operation. If you wait 2 minutes though it will stop chiming.

Otherwise - the best answer is to cut off the buckle from an old car and leave it plugged in. Seems a lot of effort to go to in order to make the car less safe though .... I'd just wear the belt. |

It is possible for your dealer to load a piece of software that allows them to disable the seat belt chime.
Most don't know about it, but it is on the discs they get from BMW. You may have to ask nicely. You still get a discrete warning light but all the gonging thankfully disappears, for when manoevering around car parks etc. |

under the seat, there is a weight sensor. If you disconnect it, I bet your problem will be solved! I have not tried yet.
