Someone correct me if I'm wrong; but I think it's basically ordering a non-standard color on a vehicle. In theory, you could choose from any color on BMW's paint palette... for instance a Phoenix Yellow Metallic 325i.

I think it's $2k plus for a different exterior color.

BMW Individual is an independent arm of BMW AG, just like BMW Motorsport...

In a nutshell, they're the official 'pimp your ride' department of BMW and they do a lot of custom work. We see BMW Individual equipment packages offered on different models (paint, interior trim etc) but their work really aren't limited to that...

It seems that you can order non-standard colors at a $2,500 premium but it does involve some paperwork, back and forth with Germany.

Funny you mention that.

Actually, I've seen a 320d touring, bone stock though, in Phoenix Yellow Metallic. Was a bit of an ugly sighting...

Didn't have my camera along, but it didn't look good anyway.

I've always liked carbon black metallic which is a color option on the E46 M3. I almost ordered it on my E90 330i but my sales rep kept discouraging me.. that it was too close to metallic black and it's just a waste of $$. I end up ordering TiAg. Now that I look back on it, I should have done it. Perhaps my next bimmer.
