Ugah, the color doesn't look nice. Hopefully the officials photos will have another colour.

Without a good roof line to complete the design, I have to say that it looks boring as hell. Not enough sculpture to the body sides. The E90 and E91 have nice upper curves to compensate but the E93 looks way too plain. It should at least have some visually interesting rocker panels or something.

I like it except for the awful color. I have seen this color in person on an M5 and I threw up in my mouth seconds later.

Platinum Bronze is a new color - not same as M5 / M6 Sepang Bronze.

This is Platinum Bronze:

Much lighter than Sepang Bronze - almost Champagne like.

thanks for the info GregA. Do you happen to know when the hartop vert will be available?

Im not too excited about that one. Like LEDZEP said, the car looks boring as HELL without the seeing the nice roof line of the current E92 coupe.

Any guess on the weight?

For more than a year its been noted to start production in December 2006. Lately, I had been questioning that date (thinking it may have been pushed by 3 months), but according to Greg PR is coming in a week or two. If that happens, then the date is most definitely accurate. US Delivery would take place the first week of March.

SOP is 12/06, so it will be launched in early 2007. The car could debut at NAIAS 2007 in January - there are still some negotiations between BMW AG & BMW NA. Otherwise the car will be premiered in Geneva (March 2007).

Weight: not much additional weight despite hardtop.

Boring? Wait for hi-res pics, or seeing it IRL. It's very much like E92 coupe - minus the upper shulder line on the C-pillar, and of course different roof shape.

It is just as "boring" as E46 cabrio vs. E46 coupe.

Exactly. Although this color and lighting do suck.

This car is gonna be hot. Especially if the rumored sunroof makes production.

Greg, I heard the Paris show was still a likely candidate for it to be officially revealed. The car is not going to start production until its been unveiled in public.

Paris will be the first "major" show with the X3, X5, E92, and Mini. I would not be surprised now to see them add the E93, just to let everyone else know whos boss.

I can't tell from the picture if it has the shark fin on the trunk. Also, it was my understanding that the E-93 will be introduced in September at one of the major auto shows, possibly Paris. The "1" convertible may be introduced at the same show.

Paris will see E92, facelifted X3, and Mini Mk2.

E70 X5 will be premiered at LA 2006 Auto Show.

E93 premiere at Detroit or Geneva.

BMW AG are still considering whether to premiere Rolls-Royce Corniche (cabrio) at Paris or Detroit (PR coming in September).

There will be a "surprise" shown in Paris - my guess is M5 Touring, but my heart is hoping for some concept car / design study.

Geneva can bring us 2er cabrio (if E93 debuted in Detroit), E70 X5 (Euro debut). 5er facelift could be shown in Leipzig in April and not in Geneva.
M3 in Frankfurt 2007 - but could be previewed as a Concept M3 in Geneva (like M5 was few years ago).
Also 1er 3dr will be squeezed somewhere.

If the PR comes within the week or two I would think Paris. They are not going to release images of a brand new cabrio and not have one on display at Paris. For this reason, I question the LA launch of the X5 as well.

The surprise could be an M3 variant, or 2er cabrio/coupe. Although, I would not hold my breath.

No E93 3er & X5 E70 in Paris.

Greg, the X5 has already officially had PR released. Your really suggesting it will not be on display in Paris? That makes no sense.

Yeah, thats why it would be a "surprise" . But I agree I wouldn't hold my breath for either one. Perhaps the "surprise" is the E93 .

It was confirmed - also in press release - X5 would debut at 2006 LA Motor Show in late November / early December.

"Surprise" will be released in a PR just before Paris Motor Show. M5 Touring, or perhaps 1er 3dr most likely. But personally I would like to see a design study - e.g of X6, V5, or new Z8.
