BMW will still have it. Benz stopped many years ago, Audi is stopping for 07.

I was also told that it is going away soon although the sales associate did not know for sure. He might have just said it to sell me the extended maintenance till 100,000 miles. Well if someone finds out for sure that BMW will be discontinuing their maintenance program, please do let everyone, well at least me, know about a month in advance so I can purchase it before they abandon it. I am going to have my e90 for a long time.

For that reason I paid $985 for ext maint program just in case if BMW dis-continue the program.

Brake jobs are far away. Figure what the cost price of the brake parts and not the labor. There are many cars that do not even see the dealership. Just think about what they pay in sctual cost compared to what we would pay.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Hey, I have some sweet land in the Everglades I could sell you for $985 an acre, as insurance in case we ever run out of land to billed on. You'll have some prime swamp land all to yourself(and alligators, lol)

Sorry, but ext warranties are BS add-ons aimed at increasing dealer profits that could 99.9% of the time be purchased directly from manufacturer just before factory one runs out at a considerable savings.

I agree that some barely see the dealership, but not so in most cases, I had my 04 M3 Vert which had less than 20K mi when the front pads needed replacing. The brake job on my 99 M3 (BMW did not include brakes until 2000), cost me $430 (7 years ago)because the rotors warped, as well. I like that fact that I can drive a BMW the way it was engineered, take it to an occasional DE or track event, and not be penalized with huge service bills! Especially if you befriend a service manager... He'll atke care of the other items not covered (alignments, balance, etc.).

All dealers charge an arm and a leg for service and then give you a hard time for a warranty repair if the car has been serviced elsewhere. Porsche is losing a customer as soon as the E92 M3 comes out.

If they were to lower the price of the car to offset the "free" maintenance, then I would see the point of not having it included. Otherwise, it's better to be included and not have to worry about shopping around for service or wondering if they're using OEM parts, voiding your warranty, etc. If you EVER have a problem at a non-dealer, the Manufacturer will not even acknowledge your claim.

Inspections are pricier than that. Most shops Ive seen will quote $250 to $400 for Inspection I and $400 to $600 for Inspection II. Besides all the scheduled maintenance for free, their program also covers all oil changes and any wear and tear items, brake pads, brake rotoers, any engine belts, even windshield wipers.

Here's what I found on the inspections:

BMW Inspection I
The BMW Inspection 1 Service is the smaller of the two inspection services recommended by BMW.

Undercarriage
Change engine oil and filter oil while engine is at normal operation temperature.
Check transmission for leaks.
Check rear axle for leaks.
Visually check fuel tank, lines, and connections for leaks.
Check condition, position, and mounting of exhaust system. Examine for leaks.
Check power steering system for leaks.
Check overall thickness of front and rear disc brake pads.
Examine brake disc surfaces.
Clean brake pad contact points in calipers.
Grease wheel center hubs.
Check steering for absence of play, condition of suspension track rods, front axle joints, steering linkage, and joint disc.
Check front control arm bushing for wear.
Check brake and clutch system connectors and lines for leaks, damage, and incorrect positioning.
Check for free movement of the parking brake cables. Adjust parking brake if necessary.
Check all tire pressures (including spare). Correct if necessary.
Check condition of tires (outer surfaces (left/right)), tread wear and pattern; In case of uneven tread wear readjust wheel alignment if required.

Engine Compartment
Read out diagnostic system
Check engine cooling system/heater hose connections for leaks.
Check coolant level and antifreeze protection level; add coolant if necessary.
Check level of brake and clutch fluid in reservoir; add fluid if required.
Check windshield washer fluid level and antifreeze protection. Fill up and/or correct if necessary.
Check air conditioner for operation.
Reset Service Indicator.

Body/Electrical Equipment
Check battery electrolyte level and add distilled water if required.
Perform batter load test.
Check lighting system, i.e. headlights, foglights, parking, backup, license plate, interior (including map reading lights), glove box, flashlight, illuminated makeup mirrors, luggage compartment lights.
Check instrument panel and dashboard illumination.
Check all warning/indicator lights, check control.
Check turn signals, hazard warning flashers, brake lights, horns, headlight dimmer/flasher switch.
Check wiper and washer system(s); wiper blades, washer jet positions.
Check condition and function of safety belts.
Oil hood, trunk/tailgate, and door hinges.
Grease hood, trunk/tailgate and door latches. Check operation of all latches.
Check central locking/double lock.
Replace microfilter or Acc. Cabin Filter.
Check heater/air conditioner blower, rear window defogger.
Check rear view mirrors
Visually examine the SRS airbag units for torn cover, obvious damage or attachment of decals, decorations, or accessories.

Final Inspection
Road test with check of brakes, suspension, steering, clutch/manual transmission or automatic transmission

Inspection II
The Inspection 2 Service is the larger of the two Inspection Services and basically includes all of the items performed on the Inspection I Service along with some extras like differential oil change; fuel filter and air filter replacements; Replacement of spark plugs.

Undercarriage
Change engine oil and filter oil while engine is at normal operation temperature.
Check transmission for leaks.
Check rear axle for leaks.
Visually check fuel tank, lines, and connections for leaks.

Check all tire pressures (including spare). Correct if necessary.
Check condition of tires (outer surfaces (left/right)), tread wear and pattern; In case of uneven tread wear readjust wheel alignment if required.
Check thickness of parking brake linings.
Half-shafts; check for leaks at flexible boots.
Inspect entire body according to terms of rust prevention limited warranty.

Engine Compartment
