if you can stay away from anything other than samsung, sony, sharp, and panasonic
if you want really good quality picture tv for cheap go with VIZIO it wont last a lifetime hardware wise but the picture is good. stay away from plasma if at all possible p.s i used to work for circuit city

Maybe this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889005050 999 with dicount. edit: I have a similar TV (50k:1 contrast, 120 Hz, TruMotion, etc) and it is fantastic. Trumotion is good for games and crap for movies, but luckily it remembers my settings when I switch back and forth between inputs. For the money, you really can not do better with an LCD. |

Why in the world would you say something like this, if not because it is just your own personal opinion?
It all depends on what kind of viewing you're doing and in what environment. Try not to make such harsh statements like that without at least backing it up with something other than just opinion. It's just a misleading comment.

Don't worry about getting 1080P unless you are going 50" or larger. You will not be able to see the difference. This was the reason that Pioneer started giving them away their 42" 1080P Plasmas for free with the purchase of a larger screen.
Plasma vs. LCD vs. DLP is a holy war. Sony has put a LOT of money into marketing LCD's which according to most is technically inferior to Plasma. LED LCD's are starting to overcome the deep black issue that LCD has, but it leads to another problem with greys in the picture. The 240 Hz LCD's are also starting to smooth the motion issues, but both of these solutions will be well above your price range. With Plasma you get as close as possible to the old tube TV's (technically superior to all of the above technologies) with deep blacks, high contrast ratios and smooth movement on fast action. With Plasma you still have to watch for burn in for the first 50-100 hours of viewing, but beyond that they are safe. My recommendation is to find the nicest 42"+ 720P Plasma that you can find. If you can find a 1080P 50"+ Plasma for under a grand grab it. |

i have had a 42" plasma tv (panasonic) since early 2004, i havent had any problems with it since day one, and this was about the time that plasmas and flat pannels were kinda newish in the market...id imagine that technology has made them even more efficient over the years, so i would get another plasma again without hesitation

yep bc componite is only 720p so if you dont have a blu-ray player YOU CANNOT get 1080p so its a waste of money id go with the sony bravia for 999 especially if it has 30000:1 which isnt outrageous but really good
