PS3 Network Connection Question

I recently acquired a PS3 and hada couple questions. I've read a couple of conflicting things on the internet and figured I'd give it a shot just asking here.

Can I connect my PS3 to my home network such that I can drag and drop movies from my Mac/PC to it's HD? I figured since it'll always be connected I could use that to watch avi's and such instead of connecting my computer

Any help?
