OEM Euro DVD System: Love & Hate

Some people have asked to see some pics of this system. The vehicle already had it installed when I purchased it and comes with 2 wireless headphones, remote and inputs for a game system. I thought it'd be a good thing to have. The occassional road trip with the kids in the back watching it seemed ok. But this IS a sports sedan (and mine...it's my toy!), not the family van/SUV.

But as you can see, the one thing that really sucks is that the screen is pretty large and obstructs an already (imo) limited rear view from drivers side. Plus, the screen also get's in the way of the turn to the kids to tell them to "COOL IT with the shenanigans, or I'm turning this car right around and straight home." It takes away from the "i'm serious" factor...

Seriously, it's a nice to have, but given the chance, I'd rather have the regular dome lights so there'd be a place for the motion sensor for the OEM alarm.

On eBay it's selling for about $2200. I paid that much for it installed. Pricey? Your call. It does have it's benefits.

You should look at this.
I'm thinking of these instead and they sell these at my dealership but I've found them online
http://www.invisionindustries.com/products.html
Dealer wanted $2300 installed but I saw them online for $1600. For $700 - I'll install them myself.

It's too bad that it's strategically placed just to block the view of your rear view mirror.

Yea, these are much better, BzsBimmer. But honestly, I'd rather upgrade audio and leave the passenger entertainment for another type of vehicle.

Nevertheless, would these be a difficult install you think?

Forget that, the way to watch is put screens in the headrests.

Not really
I looked into this and all you have to do is remove the seatback (plastic piece with net) and run the wire down. The power would come from the center console area.
Each headrest has it's own DVD player built in so 2 kids can watch different things or the same (haven't seen how but the company claims you can)
I'll probably get it by Xmas
