Tired of Titanium Silver.... Now it will be black vs. white vs SG
I have had a couple titanium silver's in the last few years. Although I believe it is a excellent color, I am tired of it. Now I am deciding between Alpine white, jet black and sparkling graphite. It will be a daily driver and I tend to wash my car every 2 weeks. I like black but is it too hard to keep clean. White is sporty, but is it too feminine? Sparking graphite is classy, but does it look too purple in sunlight? What do you think?

I too had numerous Titansilber and Polarissilber BMWs and switched this time to Sparkling Graphite. Very very very happy with it.

The last thing anyone has said about my AW was feminine.. its not even metaillic. I can see the winter frost or w/e the lexus calls their metallic white that sparkles light purple under sun but BMW Alpine White is just flat out sporty, gets attention but doesnt scream for it. In additon AW wont swirl over time and is easy to maintain.. looks great when its dirty to. My 330XI is AW and my 335I is AW Good luck with the decision

Being an JB owner, i will not recommed JB.
A JB looks nice only if it is 100% clean, hard to get there. Scatches and grease are also more obvious under direct sunlight or under street lamps than the Sapphire Black. Waxing will not help much. SB looks much better in dim light and it is looked more black than JB in most situations. It is very difficult to match the right aftermarkets rims for Silver cars, much easier for white and Black cars. I regret I took JB over SB but I am not totally disappointed. The sportiest E90 color goes to AW but it has to be mod properly.

My current car is TiAg, and it's been wonderful to keep clean and looks sharp. I'm trading her in, and my next car is AW. I formerly had a black car...NEVER AGAIN...especially when yours will be a daily driver that you clean every two weeks. My black car looked dirty half an hour after being washed. And as noted above, waxing doesn't help much with the swirl marks. You have to really detail them out.
IMO, while showroom-quality JB is awsome to look at, it's just not a practical color to have if you're picky about your car looking clean all the time. And coming from TiAg, SG to me was just not different enough a change for me, but it's also a great color. So I'd recommend AW for you. Good luck!

In any case, black looks great on the E90. Yes, it is hard as heck to keep clean, but I still love it. If you don't go black, IMO go with SG. I'm not a fan of white cars.

JB might look more black in backlightings situations, under most lightings situation, the more reflections make JB look grey and not pure black. I have no love or hate about this. I always love Black cars and I am sure the tough time to choose my M3 color will come. t

I would have to opt for white, it's a pretty colour but certainly not feminine. I previously had a titanium gray car and at first loved how easy it was to keep clean, then over time the fact that it pretty much blended with the road really got to me. Before that I had a gold car which is fantastic too, I personally think the easiest to maintain combinations would be either gold on black or white on black.
Edit: I recall seeing an episode of MythBusters where they parked 2 identical model cars next to each other, but one white, one black, outside from dawn till dusk and took cabin temperature readings at regular intervals. It worked out to an average of something like 15 degrees Fahrenheit difference just because of the paint colour. Thought I'd mention that tidbit.

But seriously, you're right they are alot of fun to watch. It's one of those things on Discovery where you're casually flipping through the stations, see a brief moment of the show and end up watching the marathon for the rest of the afternoon

I think apline white is alright, but I'm also looking at other colors...
Sparkling Graphite and Titanium Silver (besides Jet Black)... I think those colors look great on paper, but may not exentuate the car and its bodylines... or like one of the above guys said "my car blending into the color of the road really got to me" (that could be an issue... Does anyone have a link for pics of the 335i in Sparkling Graphite or Titanium Silver?... I would really link to see some pics before deciding. Thanks |

white is the new silver, go with white and avoid black for the obvious reasons. What interior are you contemplating? black?...biege may give it a feminine touch...

However I've never seen this exact ext color and int combo before but I'm considering AW w/black...potentially a drool status combo. I'm not sure what color combinations others have seen but the 3 dealers within close proximity to me all have 1 Silver w/black AUTO, and 1 SG w/red MANUAL 335i's.
As for making your decision, take temp and weather into consideration when making your decision as well. ie It would be a horrible idea to get black on black in Miami. |

I'd rule out sparkling graphite, it is too purple... Alpine does look fabulous on the E92, absolutely, but I do agree, it is very feminine. I'd go with jet black.. that's what I'm going with.. Besides the point, you could never go wrong with black; it's bold, masculine, and no other color could even compare to it when it's freshly washed. here's some pics of black and white 335's |

I would go with whatever color that is easier to match color with with a new bumper paint job. My past 2 cars have had bumper rear ended/bumped into many times throughout their service life, and no matter how hard the shop tries, they can never match the color perfectly.
I went with titaium silver on my E90. I hope that's not too difficult of a color to match up. |

I think the Jet Black is really unique and very rich. On the road, I think it looks like any other black car, but when parked next to another black car, the Jet Black appears more luxurious.
You will rarely find an auto company that sprays a black without metallic, but most will have a non-metallic white. |
