z4 M illuminated knob for e90 manual.
Having waited for a year for a stock illuminated gearknob for the e90, the wait has been futile. My hopes were raised when i found out that the e46 knobs are compatible with e90 on a recent thread.
I made some enquires on e46 m3 gearknob and was told that it comes with the leather boot- a problem because the leather boot console shape for the e90 is clearly different from the e46. so I am now trying to use the z4 m shift knob illuminated gear knob( about $100 US- It is cheaper than m short shifter )on my e90 manual. I guess i am a gear knob fanatic, i have since delivery changed from stock chrome leather to m short shift and now anticipating my next change to the m illuminated knob. I love the nocturnal red glow of the H gate and M emblem of the illuminated knobs and I am not keen to modify the knobs- it has been done/reported before. I have test driven the Z4 m roadster 1 month ago and the knob does feel good. Anybody knows whether this is feasible- Z4 m manual knob for e90? maybe i should just take the risk and order it first? Would appreciate some advice from you guys. The basic wiring of the z4 m illuminated knob should look like the 1st photo- also similiar to the e36 illuminated knob. This picture is a close up photo of the all leather z4 m shift knob.
It is not as chunky as the e90 m short shifter and has a smooth leather appearance but at least it has the illuminated feature like the e46 m3 coupe gear knob. I have a strong hunch the m3 e92 manual shifter will be the same. got mine on order. should arrive in 3 weeks. |
