What will it cost me?

Since my 330i is still fairly "new" (~3k miles, picked up Apr. '06), I'm entertaining the idea of swapping for the 335i sedan. Am I going to have to pay a crap load? (I paid ~46K for my 330i)

The best way to find out is to visit your dealer and ask a sales person.

Otherwise, you can find an approximate value of your car on www.kbb.com, subtract that from the car you want and there is your difference.

I don't think too many people know about the 335 yet, so the sooner you get rid of your car, the better.

sorry dude. be prepared to take $7000 hit. Why got 330i when you knew the 335 was coming? With $46k, I can get the fricking loaded 335 sedan.

Let me clarify:

1) I had no idea, nor was there any chatter, regarding the 335i sedan when I placed my order in Feb. '06.

2) $46K for:

Metallic, ZPP, ZSP, ZCW, Steptronic, iDrive/NAV, Comfort Access, Sat radio.

I didn't do the math yet, but can you really get a 335i sedan with those options for $46K?

it will be a little more than that...but not too much.

Okay- just wondering. This is the first car I purchased- I've leased in the past, so this scenario never came across my mind.

So, what difference would there be for me to give up my 330i and get into a 335i sedan now versus in two years? Either way, I'll take a big hit, no?

I think the biggest drop in price will happen when the 335/328s become the only 3 series on the showroom floors. After that, the depreciation should be linear.

Simmi - I think there's a few of us in this situation. We love our 330's, but want a 335 (for mostly the same reasons we got a 330 instead of a 325).

It just doesn't make financial sense if you bought the car instead of leased. Enjoy, the 330 for what it is - a damn fine automobile. It does everything that you wanted it to when you bought it. It's just not a 335. It would have been upgraded some point, just a pity for us it was so soon.

Buying a new car doesn't make much financial sense in the first place, so selling that new car at a huge loss after a few short months makes even less sense. So it becomes a personal choice.

If you have the money and it means that much to you go for it. Just don't drive a 335 unless you plan on buying one.

On second thought, I think I'll just enjoy my 330i for a few years, and wait 'til the new m3 sedan comes out.

After reading all of the latest threads on the new 335i sedan and how it was the "most hushed new car release", blah, blah, blah, I had a momentary lapse of insanity and rage (towards my SA who may have known about the '07 release of the 335i at the time I was purchasing my 330i).

I do still look forward to going to the garage every morning and taking my baby out! That's all that matters...

Yes, I can. With $500 over the invoice, the 335 sedan with these options comes out $45,940 included the destination charge. When I say $500 over the invoice, that's really the price I was offered.

WOW. Great deal. Your SA must have either met his/her quota last quarter and felt like being a nice guy, or you really haggled the hell out of him.

There is no way a dealer in the tri-state area of NY would quote someone an out the door price of invoice + $500. If there is, please, someone let me know where.

Yep. I keep the 330 myself even thought it's very tempted to get the 335 since I can get great offers from my CA. I just keep it and save some money for the big guy V8 400+hp coming out in the end of 2007. The big guy has always been my ultimate goal since the last 10 years.

People are telling you that u will lose $7,000 better try more like $13,000.
I paid $48,800 for mine last year & best I could get is $35,790.
I went to various Dealers, Cadillac, Audi, Lexus all offered even less.
Dealers know tons of us are dumping our 330i for next best thing.
They feel they will eat the 325/330i because no one would want them?
The days of only losing $7,000 per year are over for all car makes.
You lose that now just driving off the lots!

Hi just tweak your 330... theres lots things you can do to make it look better or go faster.... In the US you can only drive upto 80 mph anyway. Here in Germany, I can test my car every morning to work!!!

i paid $42k for mine in january, and my trade for the 335i coupe is $31.5k. there i lost just over $10k. my car was appraised w/ $32k when it was at 3k miles, but now i got 11k miles on it and given $31.5k, in this case i guess the first year or even driving out the lot would make u lose big.

MMakoto, try selling your 330i on carmax or autobytel, you might get 34k or better, dealers always lowball trade-ins. BTW great color combo for your new ride.

tks for the compliment. if i sell it to a private buyer, i'd probably get $34k, but since my trade is $31.5k-i'm also paying $31.5k less in tax-that makes about $31.5k x 8.375 (tax in ny) = $2638 (tax deduction) + $31.5k = $34,138. so i'm pretty much getting a bit more than $34k on my trade, and saves the trouble dealing w/ private buyers. plus i'm only paying $17k for tax on my new car, and not the entire msrp of $48,960.
