um..service engine?

So today morning I get into my car like normal and I try to press the brake while pressing the start button to get my car going but my brake won't go down at all and so I look at the screen and it has a yellow exclamation mark along with service engine soon and the car won't start. So I take out my key fob retry it still brake doesn't depress so I push down really hard and push teh start and it eventually starts. =/ Is this just a friendly reminder or did something happen to my car? My car as just abit over 5k miles and I can't seem to recreate that problem.

Did you or someone else press the brake pedal repeatedly when the car was off?

Not that I know of...and I'm pretty sure none of my parents or anyone else took it for a ride as I know exactly the way I park my car =/ So you're saying this was caused by someone pressing the brake repeatedly?

Well, that can make the brake pedal really stiff and hard to press.

Hi! I had this prob a couple of years ago with my E90 320i Auto. When pressing the start button the brake pedal felt hard and the car would not strart. I had no warning messages. I contacted BMW Emergency Services on the car 'phone and they immediately advised I press the accelerator at the same time.
The car started! Hope it works for you!
Cheers!
