2010 Mustang Gt vs 335I
Ive made a similar thread to this before but the time has really come.My 328i will be gone in 3 weeks ,and i am going to get a new car. These are the cars i have boiled down too.
Performance wise both are pretty good. Unfortunately i wont be able to wait it out for the 5.0, so 4.6l 315hp for me. Payment wise i can finance a Mustang GT for 6 years For approximately $450 a month. Or 335I will cost me $575 a month for 36 months on a lease. So in all honesty I'm a big performance guy over everything and i feel id have to dump a lot more money into the GT to make it equivalent to a stock 335i, but that's understood because 335i is a lot more money. I just need some opinions here from other car guys who understand where I'm coming from. I understand both cars are very different and i appreciate both of them in their own unique ways. Ive driven both and i really liked both , although 335i was certainly faster. So my question is what's your take on each car? |

I can't speak on behalf of the Mustang, but I can on the 335i. I have driven my cousin's non sport package sedan, and I am constantly impressed by the feedback of the steering and the engine. Torque is just a blink of an eye away, not to mention the stealth looks of the 3 series. HPFP issues seem to be the main turn off, but oddly, my cousin's car has been running strong for more than two years. No denying V8 power and sound, not to mention the new Mustang is looking mighty good. At least you have driven both, so it really is your choice.

You're getting rid of an '09 328i? Why? You just got the car.

If leasing does not bother you then I dont think you would look back on the mustang and regret getting the 335. But on the other hand if you get the mustang I almost positive that at some point in those 6 years you would start to wonder "What if I had leased the 335. It would be cool to have a mustang but since you want your cars to perform and look good while doing so , you should get the 335. this is just my opinion.

MMM i see. The main thing that makes me think twice about the 335 is the great magnitude of issues they seem to have. I'm not into getting a new car and worrying about god forbid something going wrong and possibly voiding the warranty if i was to get a friggin $500 chip .

I say hold on to your 325i and wait for the big-boy 400hp Mustang GT.

Problem is I already have a buyer on my 328i who IS going to give me most of my Down payment money back in order to take the car over. So its hard to come acorss a buyer who is this wiling. I think im goign to go for the 335i anyways because its a really well rounded car. Plus gas mileage on the mustang im sure wont be pretty.

A 2010 GT with the handling pack should be close/outhandle a 335.
Supercharger kits run in the neighborhood of 5k, with single turbos in the area of 7-8k. You can even get a dealer installed FRPP s/c kit while keeping the warranty intact. Considering that, and the cost differential of the GT vs 335, you'd be easily in the same power range or more while still keeping a significant amount of cash in your pocket. Although I haven't seen a 2010 interior up close yet, I do like the exterior styling more than the 05-09 MY. They're both good cars with advantages/disadvantages. *Edit, meant MY 2011 lol*

I'm seriously considering trading my 335i in for a 2011 Mustang GT w/ the track pack.
I drove my friend's Bullit. I need a V8 before these things become extinct. It's a totally different kind of car, but I love it. Not to mention, the sheetmetal finally looks up to par.

If I had it to do over, I'd go with a N/A V8 instead of the N54, because of the fuel pump issues. I love the car, but I'm going to tune anything I own, and having a part that's so failure prone I have to worry about keeping the warranty intact pisses me off. Not to mention the likelyhood of getting stuck on the side of the road at a bad time.
As much as I hate to say it, I can't honestly recommend a turbocharged BMW to anyone right now because of the way they've handled this. Extending the warranty on a part that should be recalled isn't acceptable customer service as far as I'm concerned. |

Well guys i just got back from the BMW dealer and saw a few space greys which is the color of the 335i im trying to work a deal on.. I decided i absolutely HATE Space Grey. Really isn't me at all , and to pay 575 a month for a car that isn't just like i want it, is kind of stupid on my part. So i don't think the 335 is really going to be an option anymore. Ughhh decisions decisions
