Front Passenger Door Lock problem

Hey everyone, I recently discovered a problem with my front passenger door lock. Perhaps it has been there but i just found out today.

When I unlock the car, the lock makes a high pitched screech noise. The sound only lasts for the duration of time that it takes for the lock pin to come up. This does not happen when I lock the car and it seems that the lock is able to lock and unlock well. There is no delay or any issues unlocking only the noise is present.

Anyone have this problem?

I'm going to the dealer mid/end of december so i'll bring that up to them along with a few other small issues.

Locks are a somewhat common issue on these cars. Best bet is to bring it to the dealer and have them take a look.

I believe I'm having the same problem. It happens all of a sudden to me though. Not an every day issue. Is it a high pitched noise it makes while the lock is unlocking?

yea its pretty high pitched, and only happens during unlock. Also, the high pitched sound only lasts as the lock pin is rising. Doesnt seem to continue after.

Mine happens just about everytime

resurrecting an old thread.. any problems ever come out of this? I get it on mine and it's about out of basic warranty so I'm trying to address everything before I venture into CPO territory.

It's funny, I've always heard BMWs having electrical gremlins and very few mechanical issues. I think my car is confused because everything's been the exact opposite.

I have recently started to hear occasional squeak (type of a rubber on rubber squeak) on the passenger door as well... occasional and usually louder in warmer days.

I thought I will leave it as is until my next visit for an oil change and will bring it up to them then.
