How Many 335i Sold Between 07-09?
How many members are here? If every member had a HPFP problem, what percentage of failures would that be of total 335s produced?
I ask because we keep talking about HPFP. Before you start, OBVIOUSLY, this is just for fun and no real conclusion can be drawn by this question. I'm simply trying to get some perspective from the people experiencing the problem. This is based on the fact that most people with a problem will complain and people without problems will say nothing. For example, if 1,000,000 335s were made and there are 30,000 members (assuming all have complained), 97% are not complaining on this forum. If you could get some demographics, you could perhaps make other assumptions. For example, you could probably reasonably assume males under 35 would be members here and would complain if they had the problem. |

I bought mine on July 4th 2008. It has 18k miles on it and so far so good, knock on wood.

It doesn't really work that way

My reliable info says that if you have an N54 car and no HPFP problem, consider yourself in the lucky minority. |

Sorry mate, you're not gonna get any perspective with this question. The only true numbers will come from BMW's own database which they will never disclose to you anyway.

While I have had to replace my hpfp, i've run in to numerous other 335 owners that haven't had any hpfp problems. None of the 5 or 6 other owners that I have run into on the road have had any hpfp problems...and of those people i talked with, one was at 60k and one at 44k. While the failure rate is much higher than it should be (i've seen estimates of anywhere from 10-30%), those with failures are not the majority. I'm probably quibbling, however It's thanksgiving and i'm stuck at work instead of at home eating turkey. |

Approx. 104k 335i's have been sold in the USA through October 2009. See table below. I do not have an actual breakdown of 335i sales for 2009, but estimate that 2009 335i sales make up 29% of total 2009 3 Series sales.

Someone here did a reasonably detailed survey a while back, You would have to search. I think it concluded that about 1 in 3 cars had had some kind of HPFP replacement.
