That seems only slightly above normal. Shouldn't be too much of a problem unless your car begins to go into limp mode. I thought the 07s have an oil cooler in the front tire wall on the passenger side.

+1 Seems a little high. The OEM oil cooler can be seen as metal grating at front wheel well. From what I've read on the forums, it is unpredictable which e90s have the oil cooler and which don't.

So what does it run at normal driving?
Should be about 240 max. Is this at any kind of altitude or close to SL?

Actually, only manual cars with the sport package had them up until about March 2007. Then all 07s with SPP got them.

That is normal for the early 335i's without the oil coolers. Later models with the sport package got the coolers, and now I think all 335i's have the cooler. And yes 240 is way high for any engine to run even air cooled ones. Your oil temp should be around 212 just high enough to get all the moister out. My M3 runs under 212 in all temps here in TX when just driven normal. You really have push it to get them over 212. Put an oil cooler on if you plan on keeping the car for any length of time. This is a real design short fall for this engine.

Well, the N54 motor is a little hot (close mount turbos) even with a OC. Even with an OC, mine still gets 235/240 on long drives (at normal velocities). But it should not be consistently getting 250+ on normal drives. Highspeed maybe.
During several 20 minute sessions at the local road course (2.9m), it got to 265. But that is the highest I have ever seen it. Even before the OC was installed it only infrequently went to 240 - never above.

mine is an 07 early production, ZSP but no cooler. normal driving is around 225-230 in a 40F day, summer 100F day will be around 240-245F but never go over 250F.
yesterday, mid 40F - mid 50F morning, went to mountain twisties run with bunch of friends, i kept the rpm higher than usual, ~4000rpm, oil temp was around 235F. at some points i was redlining/holding gear @ ~6000rpm, then i started seeing 250F, but never went over it. once i let the rpm fall back to lower, oil temp significantly dropped quick back to 230-235F. even my friends' prosches were running a bit warmer than usual, they said they saw ~220F, so mine isn't too bad at all. but yes, definitely i need a cooler for a safer run. side note, i am running JB+ 75%.

How high does your oil gauge read? Early cars only went to 300, later cars like 320. Early cars tend to read a bit higher.

With a tune, in any weather, that sounds reasonable, esp w/o the oil cooler.
