Mini Party Horn in exterior driver's door handle

No I am not kidding, it's really weird. This is the first winter with my xi, and it was only in the morning when it was around 37 degrees.

I walk up to the car and go to pull the driver's door handle from the outside and you hear a small wine/buzzer sound that sounds like a party horn in its tone but way quieter. I do not have CA.

It's like when the car does its little servo noises readjusting itself when you open a door when the engine is not running, maybe due to the cold it buzzes now?

Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance.

PS I went out at lunch when it was over 40 degrees and the sound is gone.

Could be the lock actuator. They're known to fail occasionally, and when they do, they could make all sorts of weird noises. If it's working now, just keep an eye on it.

I'm curious as well.

At first I thought you were referring to the door lock heater that supposedly comes on when you hold the handle in the open position for an extended period of time, can't remember if I read that in the manual or if it's just an urban myth.

That's weird my car makes a same noise in cold weather sometimes. I've CA. I think it's lock actuator because last night when I opened the door but didn't pull the door handle it maked that noise. Outside temp was about -4C (24.8F)

So I think it's the drivers side door lock actuator.

Disco is what Land Rover fans call the Discovery model. Maybe they had/have one.

Normal. Mine has done it from day 1. It's the car "waking up".

Yes. '04 Land Rover Discovery II. Had a cargo door in the back. Lock actuator went out and it sounded kinda like a fat chick snoring who had accidentally swallowed a dog's squeaky toy.
