Question Question On Changing Strap & Buckle On Watch

how easy is it to change the strap and buckle on a watch? based on this vid here it seems pretty easy but worried about making scratches with the tool.

do you have to use new pins on the new strap and buckle or can you just transfer them over if they are same size? also will a small flat head work or does this fork pitched tool must be used?

does local jewelry shop do this for like $20 charge?

Yes, its very easy. All you need is a springbar tool. I think mine cost $20.

Go on timezone or watchuseek if you want more info

A jewelry store will do it, but charge you too much money it. Here is a link to a spring bar tool for $2.99.

You can reuse your existing spring bars if they look like they are in good shape. Check the springy'ness of them and that they aren't bent. I usually put in new ones, but that's just me.

Put some tape over the watch where you are going to be digging a the spring pin... this will keep scratches to a minimum...

i was just about to ask about the amazon ones. they have the $2-3 ones and the $30. any difference? fake is good on a spring bar tool ?

also if a watch has a strap of 24mm/24mm on a 44mm case, can i use the same spring bars from that and replace the strap with 24mm/22mm setup?

Get a good one. I have a bergeron. The cheap ones will break and then you're sol and have to order a new one. Ask me how I know...
