Get your Avatar Tix yet?
I just ordered my Avatar tix today for Sunday.. Going to see it in Imax 3D. I have a feeling this is going to be one of those movies that you just have to see. In the last 5 years I have only pre-bought tix to 2 movies. The last one being the Dark Knight. Anyone else looking forward to Avatar?

Have to agree. The first third of the trailer looked awesome, then it went stupid...

previews make it look somewhat like a cartoon. Am I wrong? Haven't done much research on it. To watch in 3D, will you need to wear the goggles the entire time? Those things give me a head ache.

Definitly not the old-school red/blue tinted glasees. Got my tix for Saturday AM. Me and my neighbor are taking the kids.

thinking its gonna be similar to district 9 in trying to make a point against america. like america going in and killing native americans for their land. actually im almost positive thats what its going to be about.
as long as there's good action im in. ill prolly check it out on friday, but i doubt it'll be sold out everywhere so im not going to pre-order the tickets.

FYI, the 3D versions are at a 1.78:1 screen ratio. The 2D is much wider at 2.35:1. So basically, the 2D version has more to see, just not in 3D.

usually when i see a 3D movie though there are only like 5 parts in the whole movie where something comes like flying at you. doesn't add much to the experience for me

I don't know if you guys check out rottentomatoes.com at all.. But it is what i use to gauge the interest there is in a movie.
Roger Ebert's review http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...IEWS/912119998 Watching "Avatar," I felt sort of the same as when I saw "Star Wars" in 1977. That was another movie I walked into with uncertain expectations. James Cameron's film has been the subject of relentlessly dubious advance buzz, just as his "Titanic" was. "Avatar" is not simply a sensational entertainment, although it is that. It's a technical breakthrough. It creates new movie stars. It is an Event, one of those films you feel you must see to keep up with the conversation. The film never uses 3-D simply because it has it, and doesn't promiscuously violate the fourth wall. He also seems quite aware of 3-D's weakness for dimming the picture, and even with a film set largely in interiors and a rain forest, there's sufficient light. I saw the film in 3-D on a good screen at the AMC River East and was impressed. I might be awesome in True IMAX. Good luck in getting a ticket before February. 100% approval rating by the top critics.. and 91% for all 50+ critics that got a chance to screen the movie last week.. |

Cameron helped design the cameras that were specifically made for the films production, and it supposedly the most expensive film ever made with a budget well over $300M. It looks pretty cool, so I wanna see it. Hopefully the 3D used in this film does not suck like every single 3D movie made to date.

That movie looks stupid as fuck. The blue things' faces annoy the hell out of me in previews.
Just seeing commercials makes me angry at that shit.

I'm still undecided on this movie. I'm not completely sold on the characters, but James Cameron has about as good of a track record as they come when it comes to making great movies so who knows.
