I like the comment by the parent at the end. "I've witnessed enough near collisions"
Oh, gracious no!!, not a collision!! Children running into each other could cause serious harm.

Wow. Kickball, dodgeball, tag, and picking on the fat kid are all staples of being a child. (Just kidding about picking on the fat kid, I was chubby too.) This just goes to show how lawsuits, or even the possibility of one, are so prevelant in our society.

When I was in grade school 1-8th in the late 70's early 80's we played a few games....
"Kill the guy". One guy starts in the middle of a 50 yard or so field and everyone else lines up and runs from one side to the other. The guy in the middle tries to tackle someone and when he does that guy is in the middle too. It just continues till no one is left. You could imagine there were a few bumps and burses but it was fun and no one complained. We also played a game called "Butts up" You play with a rubber ball or tennis ball and a nice 2 story brick wall (no windows). Throw the ball against the wall and catch it with one hand. If you drop it you have to run and tag the wall without some one picking the ball up and hitting you with it. If you got hit 3 times then you needed to stand against the wall and each person got a shot of whipping the ball at you. Hummm...we never played tag...I guess we thought it was to much of a pussy game. Ah the good old days Ed

My most memorable moment playing Suicide was when I threw the ball side-armed and it hit a girl square on her cheek. Right before the ball made contact, it seemed like it was moving in slow motion like in the movies. When it collided with her face, it made this *smack* sound that resonated off the wall. Needless to say, she started crying. The kids in the playground started saying "OOooOOooOOoo" while looking at the boy that made a girl cry. As thedean786 said, "the playground was where men were made". I said sorry and she never talked to me again. |
