Have I gone crazy or did a couple threads just dissapear into the abyss?

I don't see closed threads or anything, they just went : poof : !

Specifically one about Valentines Day coming up... Does a mod despise Vday with his soul??

If I made another thread would it also go poof?

Why do they have to be deleted? Can't the mods just close it and then state a reason why like most sites?
