Blackberry contacts sync problem: SOLVED
I know I should probably post this in the audio/video/bluetooth forum, but I have important news for all of you experiencing the issue of your contacts' addresses not syncing via bluetooth in iDrive. You know some address information is syncing, as you can sometimes see ZIP codes, but nothing else.
The problem, it turns out, is that your Blackberry's address field does not properly "map" to the contacts' address field in iDrive. You can correct for the mapping error by putting something other than the physical street address in the first line of the address field on your Blackberry, such as a suite/apartment number, or if there isn't one, just a slash (/) to act as a placeholder. (You can't leave the first line totally blank, because a program like Outlook will correct for that.) Leave the city and state fields alone. And that's it. Sync your Blackberry to your car and voila! The addresses will be mapped perfectly using the Contacts function (they will not appear if you press the Phone function). As implementing this fix will be time consuming if you have many contacts, I suggest you fix only a few contacts in this manner before investing the time to correct them all to make sure it works for you. Hope this helps.

After reading thousands of posts here and the entire user manual for my 2010 335 E93, I thought I was pretty well-informed on all the features of my new car.
That said, I had absolutely no idea that the car would download all the street addresses in my iPhone, and I have over 1000 contacts. I never thought to look in the Navi address book. Way cool! Wish my Town and Country van could do the same thing. |

Cool! Just out of curiosity, I take it your iPhone does not have the same address mapping problem I described above? Assuming you do not have that problem, that seems to confirm the mapping issue is confined to Blackberries.

Nice post. I was experimenting this past weekend and discovered the same but could not get it to work completely and then i got distracted. basically, i got the address line to sync if i put the address in line 2 on my BB but then i was not able to use the data in i-drive. I thought the idea would be to goto your contacts in the i-drive, pull someone's address, and then navigate to it without have to manually type the address. but when i click on the address in one of my contacts, it goes to the nav input address form but the address info does not carry over.... have you tried this part?
