Lightbulb The 335d - redelivered!

38 days after dropping the 335d off at the Harms office in Garching, I was officially reunited mit meinem Auto in the States.

(Unofficially, of course, I was reunited yesterday as I accompanied mein Auto through the VDC - if you haven´t seen my write-up of the VDC process with ca. 30 photos of the car going through the facility, click here.)

The one and only Ricki Shamen, Asst. Sales Mgr. at BMW of Tenafly, had the car all ready for me as I drove up in an X6 ActiveHybrid. The tank was fuel, the Zollkennzeichen were still there (although she installed the front bracket for me since I´ll need that) and I quickly ran off to have my winter tires fitted given the potential of significant Schnee later tonight and tomorrow.

BTW, what's your opinion on your new ride? I assume you've played around in 335i's in the past?

I´ve driven multiple 335i s and of course have over 1400 km on my 335d.

Both are great but the 425 pound-feet of torque one gets with the 335d is just so incredible that it completely skews the equation (and the lack of HPFP problems doesn´t hurt either).

Mmmmmm

That's a kick-ass color...what's it called?

And the wheels too; very nice....can you post their ID number

Altogether, a very nice looking car indeed. Is it a US or German spec. as I don't recall having seen that color is any brochure here in the UK?

Enjoy!

Steve, thanks. It´s Montegoblau metallic (Montego blue). The wheels are Style 195.

The car is U.S. spec - all European Delivery cars are U.S. spec (no way around that).

Your car is gorgeous -- absolutely stunning. And I am jealous, too. Every time I read about how awesome the 335d is I curse in the general direction of Germany and implore them to make a 3-series diesel with xDrive (as I live in Chicago). Cheers.

You don't need X-drive, just by snow tires and you're good to go.

tgb, living in the snow belt around Lake Ontario, I find the RWD 335d with good winter tires is terrific. Rock steady. I only used DTC once, the rest of the time, it just moves out with authority!

I hear ya on that. Maybe my next BMW will be a diesel with snows. Unrelated question: was your gloss black trim an Individual option/special order or was it aftermarket?

The lack of the coupe ends the 335d for me.

tgb, all Sport models have the gloss black trim, Jonathan's does too, check out his pic a the front of the thread. I like it on a lighter coloured car. My E34 540i Sport didn't have the shadowline trim, but it was black and the chrome trim and polished BBS wheels went well with the black paint.
