Thumbs down Resonator Delete FTL

Just sharing a bit of experience and opinion..

Stock exhaust was a bit subdued for my taste, so I went with a muffler delete a couple of months ago. Exhaust note went up a few (quite a few) decibels, became deeper, gained backfire (pop pop pop) when letting off the throttle. Sounds very clean, very aggressive. Me gusta mucho.

So here I am last weekend, with some time and money to kill at a muffler shop. I get my new doublewall dual tip put on, and it looks great. What to do.. how about let's take off the res and see what it sounds like? Dude welds up a Y-pipe in its place and down she comes off the lift.

Worst mod money I have ever spent. My beautiful exhaust note is gone. New tone is LOUD (like too loud loud), unrefined, and has gained an unpleasant raspy rattle at low RPMs. Sounds like straight riceburner. I am headed back to the shop at soonest convenience to put the res back on.

If you have a muffler delete and are wondering if the grass is greener.. it's not. Save your money.

All IMO of course
Ian

anyone have experience with deleting the resonator with an aftermarket muffler? I know a lot have with the RE Ikon and Remus... I just got the Top Speed Pro1 installed today, obviously need to allow break in time... but, maybe down the road getting a res delete... how much louder would it make it? I like the subtle not too loud of mine already. got it for the increase in hp, not so much loud sound.

any advice or feedback is appreciated

I have the res deleted for my supersprint.. the note is now deeper, more bassy, louder but not too loud to the extend of waking-up the alarm of car parked next to you. Personally enjoy every minute of driving it now..but I think this is very subjective, depends on individual preference.

To answer your questions:
1. LOUD
2. If you like "subtle" and "not too loud", this is not the mod for you.

I saw the muffler/res delete in a youtube video and thought it would be ill, but a video clip doesn't really do justice to the volume. Huge IMO but I feel like the res is supposed to be there.

I might just go with a muffler delete and keep my resonator.

x2, sounds best between 2-3k rpm. Not too quiet, not too loud.

I never understood how people can drive with a resonator delete. It's not loud, it's just plain obnoxious. I'm happy with my muffler deletion.
