One reason I bought a 335is not M3
Practical experience and one reason I chose the 335is over the M3...
From today's drive home from work, 110 miles ... Cruising with the top down.. Had the car three weeks as of tomorrow. |

I definitely love my mileage as well, however I am not jealous of that tacky 335is insignia in the center of my tacho.

I'd day MPG are relative. Sure, if MPG is the only thing you care about, a 335 might not be the best option. If you instead look at how fast your car is, and then factor in MPG then the 335 gets good MPG. So, in the range of reasonably fast cars they have good MPG, depending on driver.

If you have an M3 in mind, this thread is exactly the reason you should go for it. You will spend your time with this car (probably years) making up excuses for it and why you didn't (or couldn't) go for the best instead.
The thinking is all around this forum. My tune, M3 skirts, DCT, M3 Bumpers, Gas Guzzler taxes. Everyone would do better if they'd just stop comparing, some cars are designed to be cheaper to build, slower and inferior than the ones more expensive than them. Fact.

Good point. Although for me an M3 as a daily driver is too much. I am already losing my shit when I see fine scratches on my 328i. I'd probably resort to murder if I had an M3 instead.

Everytime I get my car back it's one of the things I check. imho the turbocharging and direct injection do make the vehicle efficient. The flip side is the unreliability which I avoided for 3 years, though it finally got me like it did many on this forum. Sure, I'd love to drive an M3, but personally, I wouldn't like 18 mpg on the highway, just too much fuel esp. when it's getting expensive again.

I'm new here, but I've got to speak.
Replies to this, and other post on this board drives me nuts. Like most other buyers, the OP bought his new car because it was in the right price range with the right looks/ride/handling/practically/whatever, that he wanted. "Why did you get a 328i when you could've had a 335i?" "Why did you get a 335i when you could've had a 335is?" "Why did you get a 335is when you could've had a M3?" Or my favorite, "why did you buy a BMW when you could've had an Audi/Merc/Porsche/etc?" It's all pointless, and a bit rude(IMHO). We need a little more maturity on this board. To the OP, congrats on your purchase. I hope you have a long and happy love affair with your new ride. |
