Anybody recently traveled from Lordsburg to Phoenix on Hwy 70/60? Thx.

Title says it all. Need to drive daughter to Phoenix (from El Paso) on July 31, for a concert (some crazy girl). Want to avoid the awful section from Tucson to Phoenix, not to mention the tons of speed cameras.

How's the highway from Lordsburg to Phoenix? It's Hwy 70 until Globe, then switches to Hwy 60 until Tempe/Phoenix. Mileage drops from 430 to 400, and I bet it'd be less time as well (right?). Wondering if it's a 4 or 2-lane highway (hopefully the former). It's not a done deal yet since I'm NOT going to pay double or triple the value (can't believe ticketmaster hasn't been stopped yet), but if we can find something close to face value as the date approaches, I'll take her. I already reserved a Hotel room within walking distance, just in case. Comments and recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

Tape up your front end. I live in PHX. Its desert out this way. Little pebbles, sand, dirt everywhere. Speed cameras all around the Phoenix area.

Same crap here man. My poor car has more paint damage with only 4K miles than most cars with 100K, especially when I caught a construction zone while going to Amarillo, TX. A truck was going to pass me, so had to speed up to prevent that. Didn't get a broken headlamp or windshield as a result, but the paint behind all 4 wheels looked like if I had sand-blasted it man . My windshield also has more chips than my wife's SUV with 40K miles. Might take the coupe then. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, have you been on that highway? Am I better off going that route?

70 is I-10, which is a pretty well traveled highway. You should be pretty solid for 85mph straight through. Definitely going to be dusty.

I've also had more paint damage in a year out here than ten years with my last car in NY.

Thanks buddy. But I-10 is a DIFFERENT highway; that's what I always take, which crosses Tucson. This is a different highway that goes NW in Lordsburg, NM, and it's labeled as 70 on Google maps.

Anybody else?

Take the M3, tape your front, and rip it.

Looks like a road. You should be good to travel on a road with your car.

Just wanted to know if there's any construction going on, and if it's actually faster than I-10, which depends on how many towns are on the way, if road is 4 lanes and for how long, traffic, etc. Will try my luck on the regional board. Thanks anyway.
