Stripped out HVAC screw holes

So I took off the HVAC, cowling, and everything that goes along with it to pop in my JB3 and I discovered a couple of the screws that secure the HVAC back in were completely stripped out, and in between the threads of the screws you could see the plastic. This was my first time removing it so I can only assume it was the previous owner or a previous visit to the service department.

Anyways, in an effort to repair the threads I was thinking of filling the holes with epoxy and re-drilling. My question is, would this work? Would it hold? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Should work. I believe there are products specifically made to fill a hole and screw the screw in and it will set new threads basically.

Any idea what such a product would be called? I'm not even sure what to search for short of "screw hole filler"

I would just buy the new windshield cowl moulding. They are not very expensive and easy to change. Just mark the windshield with a dry erase marker where the wipers line up so you put them back on in the proper position. It is a BMW afterall. Why half a$$ the repair.

Would JB weld work on plastic? I thought it was only for metals.

I may consider ordering the new moulding if it isn't too expensive, but if it's more than 80 bucks the epoxy would seem like a much more attractive option if it is tappable.

EDIT: $49 on tischer hmmm...

You could also consider using a metal insert - some of them has to be glued into the host.See:
