Need your advice on the purchase of a pre-owned 3 series

So after selling off all of my motorcycles, I want to buy a preowned BMW 3 series. I don't know which body style, but my budget is between $15,000 and $20,000. I would like the I6 engine, of any variant.

In your opinion, what is the best body style/configuration value for the money right now? This will be my daily commuter of 6 miles a day :P

Thanks for any insight.

I currently have the 335 convertible and an 2010 X5, but I want something I don't have to worry about at work...

you're gonna need a prius for that commute

why don't you just buy a beater if you already have a 335 and X5?? After all it is only 6 miles

Just drive the E93 or E70. Unless you work in a ghetto part of LA, you have nothing to "worry about". Half of the cars on the road in LA are BMWs.

imho the budget is way too low for a BMW purchase to be sensible. We all were tempted by the $14000 E36 M3 when it was 9 years old (sellers would say this creampuff was 37k new--back then). You'd be better off saving the $15k to repair the X5, I know my buddy spent north of that on his previous generation once it was out of warranty.

There are plenty of BMW 325 cars in your budget.
