Someone hit the front of my BMW at Kroger's

I stopped at Kroger's yesterday to pick up a card for my wife. Like always I parked out on the end slot away from everyone.

Upon leaving I noticed one of the grills looked odd. The grill was pushed in and ripped from the bumper cover, trim cracked, scuffed bumper, plate holder dented which cracked the bumper paint below. Crap, of course no note, nothing. Called insurance co. filed a claim. We haven't hardly had any claims so oh well.

Kind of happy. When I bought the car it had really low mileage, the price was great but the front bumper had been repainted. Looked good however you could still see many of the stone chips under the paint on the lower air-dam. I figured I would get it repainted at sometime. Well the sometime is now and insurance is going to foot the bill probably plus a new bumper cover...minus a $400 deductible.

Was the car all by itself? I just don't get it why you can't just park far away, be willing to walk, and have s*** happen.

I still park far away, and I got 2 dings in the life of my car. Luckily PDR fixed both.

Probably some slackjawed knuckle-dragger with a pickup and trailer hitch backed into the spot in front of you and never even knew he'd hit you.

You park far away to lessen the probability of getting dinged. There are no guarantees in life.

Some Pic

Doesn't look too bad. However when the grill was pushed in it tore the clips / retainers in the bumper. I believe the entire bumper cover will need replaced.

I think I would be pissed but I wouldn't get insurance involved for that. Your rate will most likely go up depending on how much the damage costs.

We haven't had any collision claims and with the coverage I have my rates won't go up for this incident. In addition since the car was parked in the insurance eyes I'm not at fault so I will still get my safe driving bonus reward. Only thing that sucks is that I will have to pay deductible unless they determine it was vandalism then it will be a comprehensive claim. My guess it will cost about $1200 - $1300 to repair.

Ouch! It happens to everyone at some point in life.

Shit happens.

I gave up on parking far away a long time ago. It seemed, NO MATTER WHAT some old, rusty, POS always managed to park right next to me. I got to a point when I just didn't care anymore.

If you think about it, parking far away draws more attention. So haters are gonna hate.

I still park far away, might as well make an effort to keep it pristine.

I saw a Ferrari California with temp tags at the supermarket, and he parked as far away as possible. The car still had temp tags. Could have told him why bother, it'll only get dinged eventually, or if you can afford that car, who cares. I still believe it's human nature to take care of things you own. If you lease, agreed, why bother.

That's right...stuff happens. I will still park away to try to keep it clean and reduce the chance of damage. If that doesn't work. All that extra walking won't hurt either.

Shit happens. I park far away. Just noticed two chips in my rear bumper. Looks like it was from some wide euro plate.

Man... remove the licensse plate from the front.
I live in Ohio for 10 years, never used licensse plate in the front of the vehicle.

+1 for realz.....I stopped worrying about this stuff long ago...that's what we have insurance for...no matter where you park, it doesn't lessen the chance unless you have a private garage where ever you go or just leave the car at home...parking far away makes your car looks more like a target and even more so if your car is the only one out in the back by itself...

Sorry about the hit, but it's funny you say "Kroger's." You can always tell the people from Ohio. It's Kroger, not Kroger's. But anyway...

Please get m-tech.
Also your premium won't go up.
I had the same thing happen to my rear bumper. It was considered hit & run so not my fault and no premium going up..
