weird "gasket" noise from AC vents ~5 min after engine off

has anyone heard a weird noise coming from the AC vents about 5 mins after shutting off the car?

i have a 2010 e90 and the other day i parked and sat in the car for 15-20 mins waiting to pickup my friend - this is the 1st time i heard the noise, never during the time the car/AC is on...

after i turn off the engine, about 5 mins later i hear this noise from (i assume) the front left AC vent - it almost sounds like a gasket or rubber seal unsticking from something - or like the car is adjusting something inside the vents... or switching between outside/recirc air?

the noise repeats every 5 minutes or so.. maybe 3 times total

honestly, i haven't stayed in the car long enough (with engine off) to see if it repeats more than that -- but i have repeated this on other days and i hear the same noise

i searched the forums but the only similar things i've found are whining noises, crickets, chirping, fan humming, etc - and all are at various times while the car is in operation, or the AC is on, or passing over road bumps, etc. - none of those describe my noise

anyone have any idea what it could be? hoping it's a cool technology feature and definitely don't want to stop by the dealer if it's nothing to worry about

ps. this is such a great forum!

in front of the passenger above the blower fan, behind the dash, is a vent that opens or closes depending on if you are running in recirc or not. after shutting off the car it usually will move a few minutes later.

if you remove the microfilter cowl you will see it inside the right duct.
