Feeler: Alienware Area-51 Desktop!
Hey guys, just thought id put this out there, I need the money right now, not so much use for this beast of a machine so take a look.
System was bought 5 months ago, custom built by alienware, orig. cost was $2950 with everything, I am asking $1250 +shipping obo. System is liquid cooled, almost completely SILENT even when running very demanding games. This baby hasnt let me down once, no problems, comes with power cable and alienware booklet including the respawn cds. System will come completely wiped clean with Microsoft XP service pack 3 ready to go, will ship in original alienware box with foam padding. Ive run everything on this system, most up to date gaming, video software, etc. doesnt skip a beat  Heres the specs from my order: Invoice | 456258 1 | AREA-51 1 | FULL-TOWER GREEN CASE 2.0B 1 | NVIDIA NFORCE 790I ULTRA SLI MOTHERBOARD 1 | INTEL 2.83GHZ Q9550 12M 750I 2 | ELPIDA 2GB DDR3 PC3-8500 U-DIMM 1067MHZ CL7 JEDEC STANDARD 2 | SEAGATE 500GB SATA 7200RPM 16MB CACHE HDD 1 | LG 20X DUAL-LAYER DVD NON-LIGHT SCRIBE 1 | NVIDIA NFORCE 790I ULTRA SLI INTEGRATED AUDIO 1 | FLEXTRONICS NVIDIA GTX 280 1024MB 1 | WINDOWS XP MCE SB KIT 2005 SP2 1 | VISTA RESPWAN KIT 1 | NERO 7 R5.9 DL 1 | ALIENWARE MAIN BOARD RGB REV 5.1 1 | TC LCS INTEL COLD PLATE RETENTION MECHANISM KIT W/VREG 1 | TC ALX SINGLE PROCESSOR LIQUID COOLING SYSTEM AW0013411 1 | FAN CABLE EXTENSION 1 | 750 WATT OEM ATX PSU 1 | 1 KILOWATT MOUNTING BRACKET AMTEK 1 | ELC RED 1 | RAID 1 REDUNDANCY 2 DRIVE 1 | POWER PLAN: ALWAYS ON 1 | NERO 7 R5.9 1 | POWER SUPPLY CORD STANDARD 1 | ALIENWARE DESKTOP BINDER R2 I know these are shit pictures but my cam isnt the best, sorry. It's not a bad system, but the 775 socket is already outdated. You're better off keeping the system tbh, I don't think you'll get close to what you're looking for. The liquid cooling is really the only thing that makes the system stand out.

Um either way, its not an old system and its quite good at doing what it does..
Not all people are looking for brand new computers, people by used cars night n day..however "outdated" they may be. This system is well worth what I am asking for it, hopefully soon enough someone will realize that, honestly i dont appreciate the posts telling about how im supposedly asking way too much and how my system is apparently not worth it..if you really feel strongly about letting me know these things, wouldnt it seem more respectful to do so via PM? Anyhow, thanks for the input but really id like to reserve any posts in this thread for those who are interested, rather than those who are just critical P.S. Incase people arent realizing, this system has the RAID 1 drive system, two drives, one operating. So if one fails, the other automatically kicks in and you lose nothing whereas with a single HD setup you would lose all. Trust me this shit is necessary. I had a single HD setup a couple years back, the thing went nuts one day, tried getting the info back from it, took it out and everything, got zip, TONS of my shit lost. So thats just another of the many things that make this system well worth it. |

Man this is REALLY tempting. I had the exact same looking alienware back in 2003 and it died in '08..and you're running xp ftw..maybe if it comes down a bit in price

Yea, ive had 3 alienwares over the past 8 years. Very sweet systems. Cant come down much more in price though, im already at less than half of what I originally paid, snot like its brake pads im selling, computers dont depreciate in value much over a span of 6-8 months, specially with nothing wrong with them
If you're truly interested you'll be willing to pony up a lil extra to get a kick ass machine. |

It does have a lot of good things going for it, and your best bet is just throwing it on Craigslist and selling it locally. I would specifically advertise it as a WoW box. It'll be perfect for the WoW player who needs a new box to play the next expansion that will be just a little more demanding, as well as being quiet and stable and won't give any problems. 1300 might be a little too much to ask, which is why I suggest looking local. People will generally pay a little more if they can drive a few miles and pick it up from you same day. It's a good system, and if I wasn't already building a new WoW box for my wife I would make an offer on it. Good luck with the selling. |

Its worth what im selling it for, sorry if you all think its obsolete. The machine works perfectly and no it has not degraded that much in its own value. Sure you can get a brand new machine fully decked out with the newest processors, etc. and pay like $2500 atleast, this is the less costly option with still pretty damn good performance.
I would call a computer "obsolete" if the hardware it had wouldnt run the majority of the games and programs, etc. that are usuable and playable right now, and with this computer that's certainly not the case. I appreciate all the helpful "advice" but please keep the posts to actual interest only please, if you really feel the need to school me on selling my own computer, feel free to PM me. And believe me im not the only one that realizes this systems value even now, ive had several people from this forum and the N54 forums express that as well as one who actually is pending payment for this and is to get back to me. Im not just laming this system for far more than it is. Thanks for looking all the same |

Well if you don't appreciate advice appropriate for a "Feeler" thread, then you shouldn't classify it as one.
Just my $.02, not trying to flame or anything. |
