World Premier: Mercedes SL "NIGHT EDITION" -- First FACTORY made MATTE BLACK Benz

Hey guys... we recevied a call last week from Mercedes Benz of Coral Gables to put Vossen Wheels on the first SL550 NIGHT EDITION. It is the first Matte Black car ever produced by Mercedes Benz.

We installed a set of our brand new 20" Vossen VVS-CV1 (CONCAVE) and Pirelli tires. (wish they would have let us lower the car)

Size: 20x9 and 20x10.5
Finish: Matte Black Machined w/ stainless lip

By the way... car is still for sale. You can contact Ariel Manso at Mercedes Benz of Coral Gables for more info. His number is 305-460-6436

The folks at MB have lost there freaking minds IMO. If they sell great for them.

So played out and they do it on an 11' SL?

Maybe..maybe throw that finish on a C63.

J Factor. Buyers are dumping the BS SL65 all over the place. IMO it was a huge failure for the driver buyer. The look at me buyer may love it still. THE best looking MB however.

S FL buyers seem to have unique taste's from looking at the OP's threads.

I could never figure out Mercedes when they "tweaked" the SL a couple years. The SL came out in 2003 so they decided to tweak the front but leave the rear untouched. How hard is it to give the rear some nice new LED lights or something? It's a bloody $100,000+ car which looks almost the same as the SL back in 2003 and now they throw on some factory matte paint?

Normally a huge Mercedes fan but this one is beyond saving. I really dont understand why they didnt refresh the rear of the SL, not like they ran out of money.

The OEM wheels that come with this edition look way better on the car than those Vossens, imho. MB is building 100 of these cars. They'll go to the ballers in Dubai and South Florida (obviously ) and that will be the end of it. Daimler/AMG is revamping their current Designo program (the equivalent of Porsche's build to order) and hoping to give it more exposure and publicity.

I guess this is one way to publicize it and hope it attracts attention to those who think it's ugly but still want to build their own

The AMG SL65 is done for now as the SLS makes its way around. The final month of production is this August. The new SL63 AMG will be available in 2012.

As Gonzo says, the SL65 Black is history, too.

The CLK63 Black was a different story. That one sold out. Way better all around car for street and track.

Exactly what I said. The entire car needs a refresh but I guess if Mercedes still have customers willing to buy the car, why spend money redesigning it.
