Bank of America is stealing money from me

so last july i was in the Louis Vuitton store in soho buying a few sunglasses and i dropped my wallet after paying for them. i called bank of america a day after it happened to cancel on my cards and they told my somebody made a $1700 charge on my card. i told them i didn't make the charge and i better be reimbursed.

anyway, a few weeks later they called me and said they are sorry but i cannot be reimbursed and i would have to pay them the $1700. they said that when the person signed the signatures were too similar. but i lost my entire wallet, which means that they saw my old receipts with my signature on it (it's not very hard to forge). now the bank is contacting me again asking for the money, but fuck them.

what the hell do i do? i'm not going to pay for this cocksuckers shopping spree at LV.

Yes, you are. That is of course if your credit score is worth more than $1700 to you.

Did you ever contact the store to see if you could get security tapes to prove it wasn't you?

You really only have three options:

1. Go to court, which will probably cost more than the $1700
2. Pay the $1700
3. Let your credit get ruined

Choose whichever causes you the least amount of pain.

That sucks man. I switched to BofA after Chase pulled some very questionable shit, haven't had a problem...even had them call me once saying "we think this is fraudulent" and it turned out to be, they refunded me no problem. GL

Sucks to hear about that, OP. Sorry to say, doesn't sound too good. Which do you value more, $1700 or principles?

Was it a VISA card? Having worked for VISA, I'm familiar with their Zero Liability policy. If you purchased it on credit, then you should not be responsible for those fraudulent transactions. This does suck though, and its sad that BOA is risking losing a customer over this. I've dealt firsthand with their emergency services and fraud departments, they are a genuine POS financial institution. Good luck with all of this.

They have cameras there and your lawyer or the police officer should request to see them. Also, this is precisely why I have my money with smaller, local private banks. You'll never beat the one-on-one service you experience with the Goliath banks. Had this happened to me there would be zero questions asked and funds would be returned within 24-48 hours.
