Thumbs down Day 16 (edit 21) with a courtesy car

Ok im really fed up with the 2 door 1 series i have been given as courtesy car for me and my family to use. Getting in and out with 2 kids, buggies and bags is such a palava.

Our 3 series has needed its crank shaft, chain, timing gears, clutch and flywheel replaced all before its first service.

I dont know if I have the ammo to but i dont want my car back.... there is know way i have received a product or service from a premium brand. Im paying way to much to experience such basic level of service and no "joy" of a premium product.

Any advice would be greatfully received..... cheers guys.

Mine has now been gone for seven days and had two steering racks fitted without solving the problem.
That makes a total of over forty days in the last seven months.
I'm trying to reject it as I type...
I feel your pain.

(I've always had 3er of some sort as a courtesy car tho' - currently a 316d ES on a 10 plate ).

I feel for you - i had several problems with my brand new 335i before i sold it last month, overall i liked the car but was not impressed with the problems the car had and even less impressed with the dealers who seemed to fix one problem and create another on the car.....got to the point where i had no confidence in them at all.

In your case i would argue the fact that the 1er does not suit your needs and at the very least they should be giving you a 3 Series replacement while your car is being fixed.

I guess I would be slightly happier if they would have the courtesy to call me. Heard nothing from bmw for 7 days, not feeling much love for bmw and I was a massive beemer fan

16 days?? Stupid amount of time!

Agree - a courtesy call just to let you know what the state of play is isn't asking too much is it??

Hopefully not one of ours, but in any case I think you should call service for an update and also ask them to call you every 2 days to let you know how they're getting on.

I suspect that they may be under the belief that you're happy in the 1 series and not happy but at least satisfied that your car is being worked on while it is at the dealership. I agree though that they should have been in touch throughout, I would email the service manager for an update and say that no one has been in touch for 16 days and you can't even remember who your service advisor was, that should be a sufficiently embarrassing wake up call.

If this is one of ours, let me know and I'll find out what's going on and if we can get you into something more suitable while your car is out of action.

Already been in touch with bmw uk, not naming anyone but they are supposed to be looking into it.
Already asked for another car they only have 1series 2door as courtesy cars nothing else, and emailed a letter of my displeasure to bmw uk. Still nothing to report.....

Still want to see the back of the car, too much work on a car that hasnt seen its first service....
Thanks anneka shame other dealers dont have the same commitment to their customers...

I can't believe this...........wtf is going on with your car for this to happen before the first service due!! It's the 21st century and this should not happen, especially on cars costing what the German marques cost........jeez!

I'm becoming so disillusioned, christ knows how you're feeling

Anyhow, hope you get it sorted, I really do!!

I'm also assuming that all this is an actual mechanical failure btw and not any other type of error.

It gets better, the car is down on power (which i already new the lag was terrible) so probably having another turbo going in. I have only used the car on the road no tracks if thats what is meant.
Its a e90 lci 318d 09 plate, bought in aug last year with 4000miles on it and was an ex demo.
Big mistake it turns out.....

Actually now i think of it i have noticed it may have had some repairs, the clips holding up the wheel arch covers in side the arches were missing, slight bend in the front bumper and some paint not quite matching up... could this damage be accident related in its previous ownership?

I meant not run low on oil etc. but you won't know as it's an ex-demo.

As far as I'm aware if you ask the dealer whether the car has had any accident repair they have to come clean. An independant check may reveal 'the truth'

But, if you're at the stage of negotiations with BMW UK then you may be limited to what you can say on here tbh for obvious reasons until a satisfactory outcome has been reached.

Same here!

Off the road for about 3 weeks whilst the incorrect parts kept turning up and they then asked for the 120d msport back as they had 'sold' it. They replaced it with a 318d and then had a go at me as they weren't getting their £15 a day insurance off me. Prats.

Original offer has been retracted by bmw "cant bridge the gap" is all i am saying. Another offer still stands however i cant see how it will work for me.

Car has new faults with injectors so still in courtesy car, 21 days on monday...BMW are trying i cant fault that but it has gone back a few steps

So you can't post the offer because BMW won't let you or because you feel it might harm your case?

I had exactly that last week!
Agreed a deal to get me into a different car on the Thursday at no cost to myself, come Friday and the deal has changed so I've got to put several thousand in!
I told them where to stick that.....

Why do they do that!!!!???

A verbal offer if it was agreed represents a contract. Did they actually agree or did they say they would see what they could do?
