BMW to Audi
Has anyone here switched from BMW to Audi? Are you happy with the change or do you regret it?
The 335 is my fourth BMW and overall, I like these cars a lot. Fun to drive and reliable to boot. However, I now feel like trying something different. Plus, I'm in love with the way the A5 looks...one of the sexiest coupes this side of Italian and British exotics, IMO. But would I be happy with one after being used to driving bimmers? |

So sheer power is not something that I'm looking for. I'm more interested in a balanced all around car that feels solid and is fun to drive. |

I'm an Audi fan but being honest going from a 335 to an A5 is not the best thing to do. Heavy sluggish etc......

IMO, that's exactly what a bimmer is. Your switch to an A5 is basically going to be trading in the performance and handling of a bimmer for the amazing exterior and interior of an Audi. So, its basically down to what you want more out of your car. I personally love the look of the new A5, but the loss in performance would not be worth it for me.

I was gonna get an A5 until I test drove a 135... If you're gonna go Audi, get an S or RS.. the style plus the performance, otherwise I feel like you'll get bored. At least you'll look damn good being bored

I thought we had it bad over here with fixed average speed cameras but at least we have back roads to have a bit of fun.
As for your original question, I myself have switched from Audi to BMW and now back again, admittedly an S5 to an M3 and now S4 but it's a similar type of difference in ability, another member is Ailto, both of us are very happy with our choices which in both cases have DSG transmissions. With regards to your engine choice of 2.0TFSI, great engine which is surprisingly pokey (though not compared to the N54) and very economical, based on you road laws and likelihood of reaching these cars' potential I think when you take outright performance out of the equation the A5 is a nicer car than an E92 3 series. |

It sounded like you would be happier in an A5 until you said "fun to drive". The A5 is "nice to drive", but it's not in the least way sporty. It's a very refined GT coupe but the "fun to drive" part isn't lurking there.

The Audi is nice, but I don't particularly find it's interiors that great. I like the minimalism of the BMW interior, nice materials well put together and functionally laid out. I tested an A6, and the interior looked very techy and cheap. Honestly I like the interior of the late 1990s early 2000s A6. The exterior of the A5 is nice but not as sleek as the e92, and when it comes to fun to drive, rwd is where it's at and not a FWD based quattro.

Not an Audi but we currently have a VW R32. Coming back to BMW very soon. Also spent some time in an S4, still prefer BMW.

yes, went from a 328 in sig to a 2009 A4 2.0T loaded with Nav/back up camera PP+ model
the A4 did not have sport package, so I had h&R sport springs installed, it now handles and feels more BMWish... interior is worlds better than the BMW, overall I am very happy. The one thing I will tell you is this: if you are coming from a 335 to a 2.0T you will be disappointed........ the performance is just not the same.. as for me coming from a 328 to a 2.0T I felt the opposite the 2.0T may only have 211 Hp, but it is so torquey it certainly feels as quick or quicker
