Electric engine fans runs full speed...
OK so.... can anyone tell me when they have their AC on, and then hit the button to turn on the AC Compressor, does their engine fan get really loud and go full speed, mine does....
Car has 125,000 miles... just moved down to florida and have noticed that the car's engine fan is running flat out when the AC compressor is switched on. It shuts off when i turn the AC compressor off. It does this whether the car is hot or not. I know the fan should kick on with the compressor but should it be running flat out full speed? It is pretty loud when standing next to the car. Engine temp is not overheating by the way. Temps are good. |

If you drive fast enough and get some good air flow through the engine you will almost instantaneously see the fan start to dim down. Your engine needs the air flow and once you start moving the speed of the car will do the ventilation for you.

i know how a fan works, im asking if its normal for this thing to be off, then when i turn on the AC, it go 100 percent full speed regardless of engine temp, then for it to turn off the second i turn the AC off.
if i leave the AC off the engine fan doesnt kick much at all. second i turn it on, sounds like i have an aircraft landing overhead. |
