Unhappy Crashed my 335i MSport badly - Need advice *pic*

Hey guys so after 7 years of owning 3 series models I unfortunately smashed one. 2009 335i MSport. I was driving at around 38-40 mph going through an intersection when a young girl barely 16 years old with a new driver's license decides to turn left and totally cut me off with her minivan. Never saw me coming and I barely had time to tap the brake pedal before going into her side doors. To add insult to injury, overnight after the crash as the car was sitting in my driveway waiting to get towed to the dealer some f$%$ing punk broke in and stole everything. GPS, golf gps, Prada sunglasses, son's dvd player etc...

Damages comes out to $25,000 and the two front frame rails will need to be replaced. It was a few thousand away from being a total loss with replacement. Sadly it wasn't. I am a little worried that the car will never be the same because of the two front rails, but the the tech at BMW collision center said it will be as good as it came out of the factory. Any opinions from more experienced members?

Also since all the exhaust is off the car I think it's the right time to buy the BMW performance exhaust since they will not charge me installation. Still a little steep at 2k for the exhaust though.

Sorry about your accident. I appraise cars for a living, and your cars value will be significantly impacted by all of the repairs. I would seek money from your insurance company for diminished value. As far as the repairs go, it just depends on who is doing the work. If the shop does high quality work you should be just fine.

I forgot to mention this car is a LEASE that will be going back in 3 years that I would never have bought anyway in the end and that a BMW dealer is fixing the car.

If that's the case, then you have nothing to worry about with the value of the car. You just have to make sure they repair it properly.

They took it out to get the car fixed. Transmission and exhaust are also off the car.

Im sure you have nothing to worry about if its all getting done at a BMW shop. Also, if its a lease, they want it to be perfect as much as you do since its going to end up on their hands anyway.

OP...just out of curiosity, why would you put a performance exhaust on a car you don't intend to keep?

Glad you're ok. My guess is that BMWFS (or whatever they call it in Canada) is going to send that car straight to auction where it be end up in Miami Florida and some kid will pop on this board griping about buying a "damaged car".

I still have three years left on this lease and I want a little better sound out of it.

Yeah the police stated at the scene that it was her fault. She had to make sure the intersection was clear before attempting a left turn. She never saw me coming because there was a pickup truck pulling a trailer so she couldn't see me coming behind him.

Keep all the parts, engine transmission everything. Lots of expensive stuff survived that crash. Then buy another 335i and go forever.

Don't worry they still may total it yet as they begin tear it down and fix it. But yes let them know you will be seeking a Dimished Value claim as well.
