My E92 Broke Down Friday!!!

My Car broke down on Friday and I find it Odd. I was pulling into a parking space and it sounded as if i had ran over a plastic bottle. I didn't think anything of it. I got out did what I had to do. I got back into my car and it started fine. Went to pull out of the space and I had no power steering and then the battery light came on. i pulled the car back into the parking space and shut the car off. I opened the hood to find the belt wadded up in front of the motor. Had it towed to the dealer and they told me that one of the bolt that holds the belt tensioner broke. Then the belt came off it also broke the tensioner. Has anyone else had this happen???? Here are a few pictures!!

Never heard that happen before, but did your front lip scrape? I'm guessing you're lowered?

They fixed it that day and I picked it up the next morning no problem, but it just seemed very odd that is did happen and the car was at an idle. Yes I'm lowered and it did scrape, but didn't damage it. The drive was cool. Took him like 20+ minutes to get the car on. He was trying to be as easy as he could.

If you use blocks of wood under the front tires, 2x4s or similar. The front bumper will not scrape the deck of the tow truck. That is preferable to slowly dragging the front bumper across the deck. Also this is another case of an aluminum bolt failing. We've seen aluminum valve cover and head bolts fail and I've heard of aluminum motor mount bolts failing as well. And now an aluminum belt tensioner bolt.

This has been brought up before, belt gets thrown. Isn't there a TSB or something about a bracket to fix this?

That TSB only applies to 335s with the N54. This is an N52k 328i. The TSB is for the power steering pump pulley contacting the subframe. This car had a broken bolt on the belt tensioner, It is the first time I've heard of this happening.
