So I finally pulled a trigger and got a 2007 335i again! DINAN

Hey guys & gals

So make this long story short. I had a 2007 335i that i liked alot but sold it since I was moving from Atlanta to Denver for work reason, Thinking it wouldnt do any good here. I missed it so much so i decided to get another 335i. I looked and looked and couldnt find any good deal.

So i found one in denver that someone had for sale and it was the exact color i wanted. 2007 SG 335i 6mt coupe with Red interior.

I went go look at it today since the guy was local and the car was amazing, not a single scratch on the car. practically brand new. New tires, no curb rash and the best part for an 2007 it had only 18k miles w/ CPO of 100k

Only mod that was done was the Dinan software stage 2. (link Below)

http://www.dinancars.com/store/produ...cat=413&page=1

So the seller had a real nice house, he was from england, had the british accent going but really nice guy.

Reason for selling was that he doesnt need the car any more since he had 3 other cars and he was like I am always traveling for races.

Races? hmmm I asked what you mean. So found out he is an indy car racer. His name is Justin Wilson . (link Below)

http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&s...=&oq=&gs_rfai=

He gave me an awesome deal that i couldnt refuse. So the car comes with new tires, and will give me brand new 18" blizzak for snow, and 2 sets of new wheels (performance bmw) with new tires. He says he gets bridgestone tires all the time (probably free) since I belive those are one of his sponsers. But you had to see his garage. Awesome.

He also was nice enough to tell me if I need anything and will help me out with BMW performance parts since he said he knew Steve. I was like Steve who. then he was like Steve Dinan, I guess he knows him personally.

I am getting the car for 27500, Which i think its a good deal for getting 2 extra set of wheels and tires and on top of that blizzak winter tires 18"

My question is: how is the dinan software? any suggestions on those if any USED them or have them installed..

Oh yeah he was like let me know when your free ill take you to one ofthe indy race car.

here is the pic of my old car:

this is the car of justin wilson. 2007 335i

You did brilliantly and to get it from a celebrity driver...very cool. Now get to an IRL event and to the hospitality tent after doing a stint in the pits

awesome price for an awesome car.

Dude, you made out. Adding the extended warranty was worth at least $3K.

Dinan is very reputable.

Dinan is factory warantied. Its authorized by BMW.

Not as fast - but you have no worries about your warranty.

The Dinan software replaces the BMW software - they reflash the ECU, so there is no chip like with a JB3 or PROcede. I wouldn't get rid of the Dinan - the stage II package is like $2200 and is probably a better tune, even if is a has a little less power. Plus, you can't beat the fact that any part of your warranty voided by BMW because of the modification will be covered by Dinan.

That's an incredible deal, by the way.

I'm not as familiar with that since I've never had Dinan, but I think any updating has to be done at a Dinan authorized BMW dealer, and not all dealers are. I would guess they would charge you for any updating, but I'm not sure.

Dinan does have a great reputation - the only thing I've heard people complain about is the price, which you don't have to worry about. It would be a shame to flash it back to stock only to add an aftermarket piggyback module that won't ever have the same "oneness" with the car or warranty peace of mind. (Although I believe Dinan only covers up to 4 years 50,000 miles which might be almost up on your car; I don't think they'll back up the CPO warranty. It's worth some research.)

that is an amazing deal. i got mine in april (2007 335i coupe, CPO, iDrive, 6AT) from a dealer for over 3K more, then got the stage 2 dinan for around $2,100. absolutely amazing deal w/ the extra rims and tires. congrats, and enjoy the dinan. it's a night-and-day difference from stock

If you're only going with stage 1, than just do a JB+ (it's EXTREMELY easy to install and uninstall for service visits) with a BT (Bavarian Technic) tool to clear codes before you bring your car to the dealership.

Just keep in mind that you're pretty much not going to get any faster after you get a Dinan flash. You'll never be able to do down pipes and the FMIC (front mount intercooler) and intake upgrades are extremely expensive. You could do exhaust but that's not going to get you much more power...

Stage 2 is a good upgrade but expensive and a dead-end. If you're happy with just touching the 12s in the quarter mile and running to 60 somewhere between 4.2 and 4.4 seconds, than you have nothing to lose.. You just may want more after you get there...

On SECOND thought - you could always do Dinan stage 2 WITH a JB+... So.....

I ran a 12.99 which is, unless I'm mistaken, "good" for what I'm running with.. A better race MAY get a tenth or two better in the quarter mile. Right? Even if that's the case, than the Dinan Stage 2 would only be a tenth of a second behind. IF that's the case...

The reason everybody puts down Dinan isn't because it's a bad or weak tune. It's because it's expensive - especially with all the great options out there (JB3, Procede, GIAC, etcetera). For someone with money to burn and a need for their warranty, Dinan is a "good" option. You just can't take it into the 11s if you wanted to. A Dinan Stage 3 with a few other options will get you in the low 12s. If that's all you need, than Dinan is perfect...

Dealerships in our area are ending their Dinan relationships. Not positive what that means, but I suspect its not good.

For the record a poster above metioned Dinan and maintaining a factory warranty...to be clear the factory warranty is voided on parts affected by Dinan just like any other tune, the only difference is that Dinan provides its own warranty in its place....that is the reason for the price differential between Dinan and other tunes.

You got a great deal for the car alone, now add in the extra goodies you got and your should be in cuffs right now.

btw, the re-flash should be free. I have a stage 1 and had it done at no cost.

I believe the Dinan site says 380hp (or close to it). I guess someone can guesstimate what it may be to the wheel.

there are sooooo many variables that could affect that....type of dyno, supporting mods, temperature, air conditions, hood open or closed, etc.

The only way to tell for sure is to unflash your car, dyno it....then immediately under the same exact conditions reflash and dyno
