Low end?

When people talk about "low-end" or "bottom end", for example refering to torque, what is it they are talking about? RPM? What RPM range is considered bottom end?

It depends on the motor. In general it would be from idle up to about 30~40% of redline.

Take redline and subtract your idle. Then divide that by three. Low-end is the bottom portion.

For 335 I'd say sub-4000, where you do most of your daily driving

I would consider low end under ~2500, midrange between ~2500 to 4500, and high end ~4500 to redline.

Pretty much just divide the tach in 3 and that would give a rough range for low, mid, high.

Low end: from idle to approx. 2500 rpms
Mid range: from 2500 rpms to 4500 rpms (usually cruising speed)
Hi end: 4500 rpms to redline
