[My E90 Project] Luggage Compartment - Part 2 - The Forward Lashing Hooks

So you have your new E90, and you open the trunk and you say "What!? Where are those forward lashing hooks / anchor points!? How am I going to tie things down!?" Gone!

Well there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the body beneath the trim is prepped for this option, but alas, silly cost cutting has left us without.

Here's what the mounting point looks like:

Here's what you need, quantity two complete sets of 4 parts. They are sold individually. The part numbers are on the wrappers and follow.

51 47 7 132 893 Cover, Fastening Loop (Base)
51 47 7 129 196 Fastening Loop
51 47 7 129 652 Cover, Fastening Loop (Top)
51 47 7 130 768 Sockethead cap screw with shoulder

Now, I cannot tell you how to thoroughly install these alone, because I elected to buy replacement trim that is pre-cut. But I can tell you that if you are going to cut holes, make sure you carefully mark this with the trim in place, and follow the setback of the top piece. The trim is sandwiched between the two pieces of plastic. I'm thinking this is no simple task to get dead-on.

In Part 3, I install the full trim kit, but here is how they look completed. Notice that the chrome fastener does not sit exactly vertically. It's just the way it is, with little plastic tabs that keep it slightly forward. I can't really see why they made it that way.

BMW is really getting cheap -- they deleted the tie-down hooks now? Geez, pretty soon there will be an option number to get the friggin' steering wheel.
